The Honda police brackets attach to the mirror bolts in the same way. The rod could be above or below the mirrors, and be tube instead. Tabs were going to be added to the rod for light mounting. Reminds me that when I get time have to teach myself some welding/brazing.

If NHDiesel posts drawings (I requested em) I will have a go at making some. I can bend the bar at work, and have the welder at home. I would look at an 1100 model as well, wouyld have to be cheaper to make than the original model.

Having under mirror mounts as well would increase lighting options, possibly a bit greedy though :wink1

Looks good.............but we never ride here at night where we live because of the amount of wildlife on the roads after dark >:() the additional lights would be of no use unfortunately as the animals still jump out of the bush no matter how strong your lights are :crazy I often drive our Ambulance at night and we have additional driving lights......but sadly :'( they don't help!

Hey Brock,
looking at the photo's once the mounting bracket has been fabricated, you could weld the mounting rod in a position to exit through the front vent for the mirror, it may mean some extra angles to be bent.
I could also see the addition of upper & lower mounting rods. this would also allow lights to sit forward or inline with the front edge of the mirror. :think1

I would prefer this style than the police brackets. First they are probably legal. Second I think you have got more choices with light placement and size. Happy to buy a set if they are being made.

Nothing illegal about the brackets, or the police wouldnt be using them. Nothing illegal about the lights either

The police brackets allow driving lights of 170mm or more to be mounted, so no real restriction on light size. As for placement, the higher the better in terms of getting the best out of driving lights range. Never heard of anyone getting into trouble for using driving lights on the police brackets..probably because the police used to mount lights there as well!

I've had my driving lights mounted on Police brackets for a few years now and never had a problem from any kind of police that have pulled me up. Truth is most police wouldn't even know what they are. Kinda think, if theirs a law it would only apply if they were turned on??????? nothing to do with where their mounted.
