Post by: Streak on August 23, 2016, 04:51:43 PM
Just bought a new pair of summer gloves, i have never had the Ricondi Motorcycle Apparel brand before, but the gloves are really soft, perforated, and lots of protection, has anyone had these before?

Ricondi is based in Brisbane, https://www.ricondi.com.au (https://www.ricondi.com.au), 19 Jindalee St, Jindalee. QLD 4074 says on their website designed and developed in Australia, which backed up the bike shop i bought them from, so i thought i would give them a whirl, they are a very soft excellent fitting glove

Temporary thread hi-jack ......

Italian?

Don't let the name fool you.

In a different life, 20 years ago (or so), in my bicycle shops days, one of the regular reps came to the shop with a new bike brand, Avanti ....... tried to convince me they were a new Italian bicycle.  Fortunately I'd just finished reading about Avanti in a trade mag and was a couple of steps ahead of him.

It turned out that the Avanti name, despite it's Italian "sound", was owned by Shepherds Industries (an NZ company), they sourced parts from reputable manufacturers in China, Taiwan, the Phillipines, shipped them to Adelaide for assembly in the old Southcott Industries factory.

Whatever the country of origin was for Avanti bicycles, it wasn't Italy.

In the end, I didn't stock these bikes.

Back to our normal viewing ..................

A worthy hijack.  I think we can safely say 90% of manufactured stuff on offer in Oz was made in China.

Still waiting to hear Emma Chisit...

ALDI still has a lot of nice comfortable and well armoured gloves well under $50 in small, medium and large.
I find I need XL for easy on/off.

I could not get the XLs on unfortunately so no aldi gloves for me

As for the chinese made, you are very right mr biggles most of it is made in China now, it all comes down to how much work the suppliers do to maintain quailty and meeting standards, it is part of my frustrations with moto gear and finding the right items as quailty is a big problem

My driving Lights took me months to find, and i had to use an Australian supplier who imported them so i had cover for warrentys and quality assurance, as direct importing there is pretty much no cover for the smaller players like me

And Avanti is now a respected name in pushbikes, in fact the NZ team won silver riding Avanti bikes in the Olympic Games that apparently were recently held somewhere in South America.
