Hi all, just wanted to drop a quick note to say hello and introduce myself. I found out about this forum from a guy (I am bloody hopeless with names and have forgotten his) gave me a card fro the forum and told me about RTEs. I was looking at a bike in Wollongong at the time and thought the whole RTE idea was a winner. Well now I finally made the big purchase and couldn't be happier. Also happy to have been put onto this site which seems to be a great source of all sorts of information. I come from an offroad bike background from a young tacker and then moved on to a Honda VFR800Fi. I moved OS for a half a dozen years and while in Ireland got myself another VFR. I also bought a Aprilia RSV1000 Factory. When moving back home to Australia I brought the RSV with me but had to sell it to get a deposit for the house. Now, because I live in Wollongong but work in Sydney I decided I NEEDED to get back on a bike and that the ST would be the perfect Steed.
Anyhow, hope to catch up with a few of you guys in the future and thanks again to the mystery man who put me on to the site. :thumbs

Welcome Yowie. from the west of Oz

There's a bunch of OzStocers in Sydney keen on RTEs.
Welcome on board. Don't be shy. Feel free to ask questions. You can even propose your own RTE and see if anyone can join you.

Welcome YalwalYowie! :hatwave
Enjoy your new steed. I had a :blu13 for commutting to work in Brisbane for a number of years.
We have rellies down Woolongong way and the ST will be a brilliant commuter on that freeway. I'd be looking at Oxford heated grips for winter though if it doesn't already have them.

It's been a while since I have been to Yalwal Yowie. I'm a Newbie as well and, like you, I'm enjoying all of the great info on the forum. Not sure if you know but there is a NSW RTE this Sunday, 28 August 2016, to the Tarana Hotel. More info here:

Hi YalwalYowie and welcome to OzSTOC from SA :hatwave
Great forum name! Where did that come from?
Hi StinkyPete. The name comes from a little (former) town called Yalwal near Nowra in NSW. My best friend and I used to go down there with family as kids and his old man would scare the s@*& out of us with stories about the Yalwal Yowie. Many were the nights we would try and sleep with one eye open :-[

G'Day YalwalYowie from the capital of southern NSW namely Wollongong. Good 2 c another local STeed rider and will catch up on a nearby RTE in future. Mother Terese and I have lived in these parts 4 24 years and haven't heard of Yalwal (near Nowra) b4 - r there any residents still there? U have picked the right time of the year 2 buy an ST as the great riding weather is here!
There r plenty of good, knowledgeable (ST wise) people on the forum 2 discuss issues with. In the meantime send me a PM if you're hankering 4 a short interesting ride 'round the Illawarra. Sounds like weekends r the go 4 U. Welcome 2 the fray.

Hi St.George, Unfortunately Yalwal is a township no more ... well unless you are a fish as it was flooded by the Yalwal dam many moons ago. My mate's aunt had one of the last freeholds down there but it is all national park now I think. She sold out a dozen or so years ago (probably more, time getting away from me a bit nowadays :eek) after some scumbag burnt down the house. It gets a bit crowded nowadays but we used to have loads of fun down there on dirt bikes and 4wds.
I will get in touch when I have a chance to escape for a few hours for a ride. Cheers.
