Hi all,
I won't be going on any rides from the end of this month :eek until sometime Feb, as I will be going to the DEEP south.
Will be in Hobart/Kingston for training, then to http://www.antarctica.gov.au/living-and-working/stations/davis (http://www.antarctica.gov.au/living-and-working/stations/davis) to work for a few months :-)
Currently -36c down there, and barely breaks 0c for summer maximums!

They do have quad bikes down there...enjoy :thumbs

DOH !! well you can ride an Artic quad bike.....perhaps the crispness of the southern air will remind you of the riding your missing around Toowoomba :butt
cheers and stay safe :wink1

I was looking at Antarctica if I was made redundant. If I don't get the new job I'll have a crack.
Enjoy.

Has the NBN reached there yet??

Ok if you need someone to take ya bike out to keep the fluids flowing I'll sacrifice my valuable time if you wish..........
-
:-) but will it come back as clean as yours?
If anyone is interested the whole process takes about 7 months from when you apply, and there are lots of tests you have to pass (tech, personality, group work, medical, psych, govt security clearances).
Taking a decent camera, and should have LOTS of photos
Lane is glad I am only down on the ice for 3 months though! Mainly doing it for the experience not the pay (with allowances works out to sim to my normal pay packet). Work is good and holding my job for me for when I get back ++

Congratulations, I'm sure it will be an amazing experience. We actually looked at one of the Antarctic cruises but very few actually get to the continent. Anyway, take plenty of pics and I'll remind Lane about the Bundy visit to see the turtles (they'll be laying/hatching while you're swanning around on the ice!!)
Stay safe (and warm!)
Cheers :thumb
