Title: Hi all from Perth WA
Post by: ST1100_GREG on October 08, 2016, 01:36:22 AM
Well I am a sailor with a new, to me, ST1100.  It's previous owner gave me his spreadsheet of rides and maintenance. Most rides 400ks. For me this is a commuter. I bought a new helmet for her but have to get used to the weight solo first. I'm 5'8" and struggling with the weight at standstill.
Previous (last ) bike was a 250 belt drive so this is a big step up for a 64yo.  I have previously owned a XJ650 and loved the shaft and the power.

I left the seat with Scotts trimmer so be interested to see how it feels with an inch missing.

Have to say I'm impressed with this club after having read through a few threads.
I spoke with her (the boss) about this club and its aims and she agrees we hope to help in the future with bed n shed for ST travellers in distress/stress once we get our new digs sorted.

Hope to see you around.
Greg.
P.S. did I mention I have a boat? So time is a precious balance between the two. But use the ST to get to the other.

Hi Greg and welcome to OzSTOC from SA  :hatwave    The static weight of the bike is something that you will quickly adjust to, and you'll love the solid stability of the big bike at highway speeds.

Welcome Greg.
There are quite a few in here from WA, I'm in Kinross. The lowered seat will help a lot, you may want to look at riding boots with a good thick sole as well

G'day Greg welcome to OzSTOC, the ST1100 is a fabulous ride I have a 98 ST1100 with 182,000k's up on it. You wont take long getting used to the weight when STopped and will enjoy taking her out on longer rides. I live in NSW and traveled across to Perth for the OzSTOC National Rally 2016 in March. STranger didnt miss a beat even in the heat..
Check out the  :eat RTE  :eat liST for WA and try to get along and meet others who chose wisely in Honda ST's..  :thumbsup

Good to see another ST winner on board.
I'm no spring chicken either, and not built to cyclone rating, so have to keep an eye on the balance.  I have my wife as a pillion and she frankly weighs more than me, so we need to have a system going for her mounting and dismounting the bike.  The difficulty is compounded by her having a titanium hip joint so it's a bit of a process.  Just goes to show it's achievable by anyone.

Thanks for the motivation Biggles.
I'm really hoping that the seat mod is enough to invite Mrs me up.

Welcome mate  :hatwave, you wont regret your ride, the ST has to be the best tourer on the road...and this is an awesome club to be part of, for you and your partner  ++. I hope to see you on a RTE sometime.

Thank you Gerad & Sandra, Mitch and Mypod. I am finding that this is a seriously generous group of motorcyclists who like to ride and eat. I made it to Brookton and hope to make it next Saturday.

Rode to Baldivis via Freo today dodging the rain. Great cool day for a ride. The grandies were chuffed to sit up on the beaST. All 3 at once.
This is the life. Thank you. Hope to see you at an RTE or about.

Wonder who the ST1100 P who parked next to.me in the convention ctr park this week? The P even had siren on the back. :authentic :-)
