Hi all having problems starting the 1100.
Turn the key dash lights up ok but push the start button and nothing. Wont happen all the time if i wiggle the engine cut off switch it starts but sometimes it takes a while. Today i had to clutch start it because after 20 min it still didn't start it clutch started fine. When i got home i turned it off and on a few times and it was all ok. Any ideas (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161013/072a286f3e74666e21eb8f91d532f82b.jpg)

try putting in neutral with sidestand up.
Sometimes the sidestand switch plays up, sometimes its the clutch switch
-
Could also be some dirty contacts in the e-stop switch and/or the start switch
If you're having issue starting while in neutral it's more than likely a dirty contact in RH switch block
When starting in gear then more than likely it's clutch or side stand switch contacts. - also check to make sure the wires to the clutch and side stand switches are ok.
Process of elimination to find the fault.

Thanks for the response it is in neutral when the problem occurs so i will check it out over the weekend. :thumbs

Hey johnnyYTED . Yeah it starts in neutral with the side stand up or down. Also starts in gear with the side stand up when its running and i put the stand down the engine stops so i dont think it's the side stand sensor.

Could be the clutch switch, or a dirty contact on the kill switch or starter button.
My bike plays up occasionally as well.

From what I've read, the most common problem that causes starting issues is a dirty contact on the kill switch or starter button (As suggested above :-++) .
So try cleaning them up first :thumb and if that doesn't fix it let us know.

I've been having this issue for a year or so on mine but only when the bike has been run for a while. Yorkie had a look last weekend while I was away and although he couldn't get it to fault, cleaned the switch block contacts and did some wizardry with the starter relay. So far so good but only ridden it once since then. He also noted that my battery was made in 2005 so I'm getting a new one to see if that helps.

Hi - Frenchy here, had the same issue now and then, removed side cover while pushing the start button tapped the start relay and away it went. Turned it off tried to start again no start - hold start button tap relay engine started. When I removed the relay connector I found the terminals were contaminated. I cleaned them up and have had no issues since - only a week so all good so far
