Title: Mirror retention strap
Post by: Copernicus d ferret on October 20, 2016, 08:56:23 PM
Hi all,
My first st didn't have the straps and this one I have now just has them screwed at the end to the shroud.
I'm thinking they should be plugged into the blinker housing and strapped around the mirror ?
Can anyone tell me how they work ?

On the two ST1300's I have owned the strap has been screwed onto the plastic indicator housing and then the other end is attached to the plastic near where the mirror is bolted to the bike.

Here are some pictures that may help (The pics are from an install I did so aren't focused on the strap but should help :thumbsup)

My bike didnt have any retaining straps for the mirror housings and I didnt know any different until I lost one of the housings while riding over the mooney mooney bridge. The replacement housing had a strap (ie cable tie) screwed into it which prompted me to modify the other one as well.
They have the 'tail' of a large cable tie screwed into the mirror housing which is then held to the mirror bracket by another 'removable' cable tie. That same removable cable tie also holds the indicator wire in place against the mirror bracket.
