So slowly thanks to Shiney and Draco with adding more and more things to the bike I now have a question related to security. What do people use to protect there bike from being stolen. Referring to when you go for a ride and have lunch somewhere. Park it at home in a secure gated area, is there something else stopping people from stealing it? Do you use a chain or a guard or what, if you can provide some links so the items you use that would be awesome, thank you.

The HISS is a pretty good deterent. I always lock the bike on full lock so the bars don't move.
There's an extremely loud siren device that Diesel and I bought from China that works well. I took it off the last ST13 but haven't put it on this one yet. Maybe Diesel could also comment if he ever finds time to read the Forum these days.

Don't use anything. Sometimes I engage the steering lock.
In over 10 years no one has ever interfered with the bike ever. Mine is parked in the front yard ready to roll. That goes for the trailer as well. I was a little concerned when I first installed the phone and GPS mounts in that they might go for a walk when I'm away from the bike but all good go far.
Farm bikes (off road ones) around here seem to be the ones that are targeted rather than road bikes.

I think we are a bit lucky with the ST's as they are not a sought after crime magnet....more an old gents bike in the grand scheme of things. (If they only knew :butt
If your in search of a cheap deterrent when the bike is covered while away I have a little secret weapon against theft or even peeking under the cover :whistle :whistle
But you will need to ask me in person or PM as it wont be a secret if I post it on a public access forum o:) :nahnah
Cheers

This is the link to the discussion on the alarm that Biggles & Diesel have http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=3293.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=3293.0)
The alarm they brought is no longer for sale but he is selling another 2 that look good:
This one looks like the one they have:

This one says will let you know if the alarm is activated on a little key chain (As long as you are within a few hundred meters of the bike):
