Hi guys,
What's the normal running temp for an st1100 on say a 30 deg day?
-
Normal at 30 C is about 1/3 of full scale, unless in slow traffic. outside temp doent affect the 1100 very much.
-
Thanks Brork.

I promised ages ago I'd send a pic of my mirror repair, still not polished but fixed
-
Don't expect you to remember but it had a chunk missing out of the Sid.

My 1100 on a warm/hot day and sitting in traffic goes anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4.
Was :think1 about doing the mod for the thermo fan.
-
My 1100 consistedly sat either side of 1/3 in warm weather....I put an override on the thermo fan so I could bring it into play sooner when stopped in traffic.

Stranger sits 1/3 on hot days, I have an override switch on switch 4 on his police :cop switchblock for when we are in Sydney traffic, so I turn the fan on before he gets :H, I,ve posted in the ST1100 section which wire position in the tail to do this, :thumbsup with pics..

With regard to the fan switch has anybody got any idea at what temperature this switch turns on. I was thinking I might get one that cuts in at 10º - 20ºC lower than the original. My bike runs fine most of the time but the temp does climb pretty quickly during slow going in the summer months and I'd like to get the fan coming on a bit earlier.

Turns on at about 100C
This one comes on at 85C which was the one I was going to get but was advised that the motor might be run to cool so I'm going with OEM when funds allow.

Just checked the manual. Begins to open at 80 to 84 and fully open at 95C so I might get the one in the link after all.

Mine comes on when stuck in traffic, but its not a problem as its only doimg what its supposed to do.

Too cool can effect combustion efficiency.
