Title: Blowing headlight bulbs
Post by: Wolfrider on November 28, 2016, 06:11:28 PM
Hi there, i am finding that my headlight bulbs are blowing out on dip, have gone through 6 bulbs in the last two months, the right side blows first, then the left. As my headlights are costantly on when I start the bike, could starting the bike be causing a surge in power to burn out the thin wire in the lights?, anyone else encounted this problem? I am running standard H4  12V 60/55w.
Thanks Wolfrider.

The blowing of the right head light is a known problem, world wide. No fix has yet been found. 6 in two months is a bit excessive, what brand were they.

I have recently blown the right one, must change it soon. previously the bulbs when I bought the bike lasted 4 years

Are you using Honda bulbs?  You know you can break the tabs off the bottom of any H4 bulbs.  I use Narva 120s and get a good many kays out of them, with a bright light to boot.  eBay has them at half the price the auto shops want.

Quite right, but you really need to get a TV, book, video game or something- this living on the internet is bad for you.  Look at Kev!  :p

My left globe goes first then the RH one a few weeks later.

This is going to sound stupid but can some one give me directions ( step by step) with a possibility of photos on how to change the head lights?

I am not sure if I am supposed to take the front globe out or delve up through the back or rip the front off or what. I don't know what I am feeling for or doing.    :crazy  :fp :crazy

Cheers in advance

1100A is much easier from below the headlight. Remove the black panel. turn the bars full lock to access one side then opposite for the other side.

I brought some gerneric ones, no brand, the bulbs ended up blistering where the low beam wire is.

I turn my handlebar to full lock to reach my bulbs from the top, at least that way i can see what i am doing.

Can you get them cheaper than $70?, don't want to buy them if they only last me a month.
