I have read Streaks old thread about open / closed face helmets
What I am keen to know is what helmets people have been enjoying and would recommend and why.
What I personally am looking for is a quite helmet that allows Sean or similar systems, has flip face features and is cool to wear .as in temperature not the Jamaican bob sleigh. I also want to be comfortable after 15 - 20 hours on an IBA.
I know technology moves ahead in leaps and bounds and become more achievable for the average punter to get.
So ..... what do you like and why?

I think you mean SENA Sytem
I had to read that a couple of times. The choice of helmet comes down to what you want, Full face, Flip Front, half shell (Harley type).
The best advice is to go to a good helmet shop and look, try, talk to sales person. Most important thing is a good fit, must feel a little tight when new without squeezing the skull and pushing out the eyes.

I currently have a Shoei Neotec, a Shark Evoline 3 and an AGV.
The Shoei has a flip up front, a built in, flip down sunvisor, fits nice n snug, with a Sena 10U fitted, http://www.sena.com/product/10u/ (http://www.sena.com/product/10u/) , ventilation is adequate . . It was a very hot journey riding to Perth in March this year and the helmet was OK, but it was a hot trip. I like the helmet and am tending to use it for most of my riding.
The Evoline 3 is also a flip up but it also flips right over to the back of the helmet giving you an open face configuration . . This change can be made whilst on the move using one hand . . I mainly use this feature whe it is hot and I have slowed down for a town or road works, I tend not to use open face configuration at much above 60KPH. This helmet also has a built in sun visor and ventilation is adequate without being an airconditioner . . I have it fitted with a Sena 20s, http://www.sena.com/product/20s/ (http://www.sena.com/product/20s/) . Noise level is OK, but earplugs should still be worn.
The AGV is a full face non-flip, built in flip-down sunvisor I bought compare the noise level with my flip front helmets . . It is slightly quiter, I use it occasionally for shorter rides, but tend to prefer one of my flip-up helmets on longer rides. I have a Sena 10 fitted to it for coms, telephone, music etc . .

I have had many helmets over the past 50 years of riding and have yet to find a quiet helmet. I wear earplugs to protect what little hearing I have left.

I did have a Shoei X-Eleven which was probably the noisiest helmet I have ever owned, and I finished up taping up all the vent holes with gaffer tape. A chat with a trusted dealer advised that "....of course it will be noisy! It's a race helmet and maximum ventilation is an important design consideration, and the extra holes mean extra noise" Shoei helmets fit my head very well, so I went to the Shoei TZ-X (full face) which has the reputation of being a quiet helmet, and for me it is. However, helmet noise is a product of helmet design, head shape, bike aerodynamics, windscreen design, wind direction, wind strength etc etc. What works for one person will not necessarily work for someone else.
For a sun visor, I've stuck two rows of black plastic insulation tape across the top edge of the clear visor, and this works a treat on those early morning rides into the sun, and like Stroppy, I always wear earplugs on rides outside of the city to protect what I have left.

The Shoei Neotec (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91hcAkADjRo) is the helmet I am using at the moment but I will be looking at the Shark Evo-One (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVEAaOcQ_zo) for my next helmet as it looks like a better helmet.
I have used the older Shark helmets (Evoline 2 & 3) and I loved the features that they came with :rockon but the helmet's outer shell for the Evoline is much larger then other helmets and there is more wind noise then the Shoei :'(
The new Evo-One has a smaller and lighter shell and is reportedly a lot quieter whilst maintaining and improving all the awesome features of the Evoline :clap :clap :clap
Anyway those are the two helmets I suggest checking out :thumbsup

I love my Shoei Neotec. It was so well ventilated on top, one the ambient temp went down to 24, I would have to close the top vent or it was too cold.
I had it fitted with the Aldi bluetooth, and then the Interphone F5MC.
The built in sun visor was brilliant. Easy to operate and you can park the visor at any level, so you can lower it a little when the sun is low on the horizon, but still have untinted vision of the road.
Revzilla reckon the only quieter flip face is the Schubert.

I bought a Schuberth C2 Pro to replace my Shoei XR-1100 reckoning the top-of-the-line jobbie would be perfect.
Well it ain't. After 6 months wearing it around town and on short trips, it's still hard on the ears both in pressure and wind noise.
Unfortunately the Shoei's padding and liner are deteriorating after 135,000 kays and 4.5 years, but I'm thinking about replacing them and keeping the shell for a while longer. I know the resins in the shell don't last forever due to IR and heat damage, but it's been the best helmet I've had.

I like my Nolan 102 flip, Ive replaced the inner lining 3 times over 8 yrs now. Its noisy |-i sometimes but that helps drown out the voices in my head :grin

Have used the Shark Evoline 2 and 3 for a number of years and now using the Shark Evo One. some excellent changes in the helmet since the earlier models. 2 to 3 gave a loss in weight and a few other bits of improvement. The improvements have continued with the Evo One, a longer internal sunvisor, the best airflow inside a helmet I have ever had, lighter weight again, a visor that is assisted in opening, the chin bar no longer interferes with the visor when raising it from a closed position, better lower breather holes on the chin bar that can redirect airflow onto the visor or directly onto lower face, a flip down weather shield on the chin bar that drops below the chin, can be fitted with communications, the outer shell is now smaller, it is quieter than the evoline 3 and can be quieter if you close all the air flow controls and the drop down shield on the chinbar (I still use earplugs).
I would rate this among one of the top helmets currently available.

all helmets are noisy unless you can block the opening around the neck area as this is where most noise is generated, if I lift my shoulders as high as possible whilst riding the noise is reduced quite a bit as with holding a hand over part of the neck area

I have used these in the past. Very effective at cutting noise, but uncomfortably hot in summer.

I just went into a shop today to try in the neotec. Very comfortable but trying to justify the $899 price tag. I know it will last a few years but ..... phew! That's a lot of bickies to part with in one hit.
Will have to see if I can find a good price elsewhere but I do like to support Australian businesses where I can.

Make sure to look around the internet for a cheaper price as most shops will price match if you can find a cheaper price at another store (as long as it is in Australia)

I think, but not 100% sure, I shopped around as per Shiney advice, early 2015 and got mine for around $750 . . Look at some of the bike shops in Sydney n Melbourne online. What size are you, I might make some enquiries locally for you . . Oh and where are you located? Oh and the Shark latest Evoline is a good, versatile helmet and quite a bit cheaper . . I have both . .

I got mine from a shop (part of a pair of dealers) in Perth delivered to Brisbane for $799 back in 2014. RRP was $899.
