In SA you just wrote down your previous employers and the company called them. Even in 1990 I never needed a resume in SA but when I left that work 17 years later I needed one.

Then there's the cover letter which is an unnecessary evil in my books.

I've used calculus in the form of Laplace transforms to convert from the Time domain to the Frequency domain in electronics.

I've also used Fourier Transforms

These days a lot of the oscilloscopes now has Fast Fourier Transforms built-in, so you can see the signal and then view it as a spectrum. Some even allow you to view both at once.
