:bl11 hi just read about kaoko cruise control has anyone got or using one and are they any good thanks

Hi billj.
I've been suing a Kaoka for quite a while now. I'd love to fit a MCCruise, but the price is pretty high. The Kaoka is an unobtrusive fitting, is easy to fit, and works very well at locking the throttle at a given position. However, I find it not as easy to set as the advertisements suggest, and I tend to hold the throttle with my hand and wind the lock on with one finger.

I use this one. I bought two over 10 years ago and put the second one 12 months ago. There's two models for the two different throttle controls. Only issue I have is the activating lever is in between the grip and the start switch but I've got used to. Tried a few others but this one worked best for me. Slips between the grip and the switch block.

Good suggestion Alans1100, but I don't think that style of unit can be fitted if you have Heated Grips.

another cheap option is a thick "O"ring between the grip and counter weight

I use the Kaoko cruise control.
It looks good and works great but as StinkyPete said any time you want to engage the cruise control you have to twist it around. (I just use my pinky finger to twist it on while holding the throttle with the remainder of my hand)
The other options like the ones mentioned stand out more but are easy to engage (just move a switch) I used a NEP Cruise Control before that was similar but didn't look very good (worked well though with and without heated grips)
Anyway, short of electronic cruise control (the best option if you have the money) the Kaoko does the job well while looking good.

Good inexpensive throttle lock.
Its not a cruise control. Its far from a unit that adjusts the throttle openings to the terrain and loads fuel or or takes fuel off the maintain a set speed. Its not a cruise control like the one in your car.
BUT it takes the stress off your throttle arm and with smart use can by you lots of relaxation and on the long open streatches to our west can add up to a bit of a fuel saving.
Keep an eye on the grip for premi wear and tear.

Another product that isn't a cruise control, but has the advantage of disengaging when you apply the front brake is the US made BrakeAway Cruise Control. Like the other devices mentioned it's a throttle lock but has an arm that disengages the lock as the front brake lever is pulled in.

I've had one on my 1300 for a couple of years now and reckon it paid its way on the ride to Perth last year.

Kaoko didn't produce a throttle lock for the ST1100 until I sent them the measurements and they made me the first ever production model, it took a while and a lot of emails, but it arrived, and I fitted it, it worked flawlessly, a good control device and a way to ease your constant grip. I wanted this model as I wanted to fit heated grips and other methods took up grip space. They are commercially available now through Australian distributors, I plan to buy one again for my new ST.
