Dunno what State your in Brian...but going through a red light at even 5kph will cost you 3 points here in Victoria :'(

If we can help in some way let us know.....sad part is, it takes all modes off the grid. :wht11 :eek

I was referring to the total points you have when you get your licence

Actually you have no points when you get a licence. They are demerit points which means that if there is a traffic offence points are allocated against your traffic history. So having no points = good, having 12 points = bad.
-
Demerit points were accumulated over a 3 year period, the red light offence took my demerit points over the limit. I made a conscious decision to go through the red or the maniac in the glass carrier would surely have gone up my rear :o, as he had been tailgating me for a while. I had elected to have my demerit point period extended by 6 months providing I didn't get any further demerits within that period, however as luck would have it I was pinged doing 80 in a 40 work zone, which meant immediate suspension of license. I have sought a review of this one with civic compliance as the signage was confusing. I do not support speeding or breaking traffic rules in any form, but unless I drive like a nana I am finding it increasingly difficult to avoid these low level speeding fines (traps).
Cheers all, and ride and drive safe🤓

Fair point Brian :thumb
Unfortunately here in Victoria most minor traffic offences will cost 3 point on each occasion, its truly is just revenue raising. And anyone who believes that reducing speed to the 1900's limits will reduce the death road toll to zero, are passing urine through an enlarged prostate uphill and into a cat.5 cyclone and hoping not to get their feet wet!
Cheers the can :-)
-
I think we can all relate to a few times we've been done in what any fair minded person would consider a revenue raising action.....I could name two from my riding/driving experience. The fine and points are quickly forgotten only the injustice gnaws away years on.

:blu13 Take a look at my "Impossible corner" post and you might wonder about lots of things. How it's even possible to do such a thing at the angle and speed of a right angle (90 degree right turn) :think1 :eek >:() :blu13left

Could have been much worse, happened at freeway speed o:), perpetrator, a Mazda 3 had to be towed with crumpled front end and busted radiator.

Ah- that explains it! A Mazda running into a Toyota will always come off second best. |-i

In my humble opinion Mazda drivers have taken over from where the hat wearing (or hat on the rear parcel shelf) volvo drivers left off. There is no safe space on the road near them, extreme distance is the only way they can not get you

Oi :OldMan :OldMan :OldMan :OldMan
I have 3 Mazdas.. a 2 for the Wife, a 3 for the Daughter (+partner and two kids) and I have a BT50. None of drive with hats, or like Volvo drivers.

Club members would be the exception to the rule of course o:)

Ouch :law How long did they take your license for JD ?
-
6 months from the 7th April , but I'm hoping for a favourable outcome from the review 🤓
-
Good news....for me :runyay :runyay🤓. Just got off the phone with Civic compliance and Vic roads and have been advised that as of 5pm today my drivers license will be reinstated, however I can't incur any demerit points before the 8th June, after that point go back to zero🤓
-
Great news!!!
-
Nice one !
May i suggest you blur the name & address in the photo ;-*
-
So all is forgiven, and you just have to keep out of trouble for two weeks!
AND get all your points back!
That's an extremely generous "let off" by Vic Roads.
Good luck to you. The rest of us sweat off the points over three years, or ride like nannies for one year on one point.

Good outcome JD.
I have an RDO on Friday 9 June, wanna come for a quick squirt over the Black Spur?

At the rate the months are flying, it shouldn't seem too long🤓

Voluntary taxes are NOT something I can afford.
Perhaps you need to practice Situational Awareness. Time and Place...

Must be 20 years since my last ticket for speeding. I was doing 70 in in a 60 zone and I was sure it was 80 zone when I'd been there before that. To add insult to injury I was leaving the town I had passed through and wouldn't have been far from the 80 zone anyway.
I too can't afford to throw money away to the government.
-
:blu13 at least you were allegedly doing only low speed. Not like my fictional 93kph doing a right hand turn on undulating road surface..."just call me God/Good o:) :blu13left
-
Queensland has a twelve points based demerit system. Just before I left to come home to NZ I got picked up at 114 on the open road on just about my last ride on the ST1100, brought my total up to 11 points - all from speeding, Geez those ST1100s are dangerous!.
Just received my first offence since I came home in 2013/14, came off my bike last week (my fault) and it slid under the car in front so Transport Dept issued an offence notice for travelling too fast for the conditions and being unable to stop in time. Trouble is, the offence notice states the correct time and place of the accident on a suburban road while the official Police report of the incident places it 5 km away on a motorway off ramp.
It's a $120 fine, so watch this space.

Hi Ace :hatwave, will be attending a VJMC/CBX6 meet at Cranbourne West on the 18th of Feb. If you’re there we might be able to discuss 76 and old Japanese stuff 🤓
