OK this is what I have so far...
Dates for Tassie RTE...
I'll try fit in anywhere
Sim can do 5-6, 19-20, of May or 2-3 June
Moose is out..
Walton is in...dates Walton?
KTMGeoff...haven't heard yet
Couch..what do you think?
How about Saturday 12 May or Sunday 13 May. If that works I can take a day off work.
Cheers
Kev

Anytime that Carsten is free, I am too. Apart from march/April I do believe we both get every third weekend off.
-
Can do 20th May, have to be back for night shift or 2 June is good, all day.
-
Hi Kev, where a bouts are you going? Planning to do a ride in your great state, I might be able to catch up with you guys if the dates marry up :beer
Cheers Aj :blk13

Looks like things are firming up... my preference is for either of the two dates in May (19-20 May or 5-6 May). The proposed date in early June is pretty close to the Tassie Far-Ride scheduled for 9 June. :eek
-
Good practise for the Farride, get the bikes warmed up. Chance to discuss tactics. Walton is also registered for the Farride.
-
Hi Guys, Just wondering if we are any closer to a ride-date yet? Pencil me in.
:blu13left
-
Hi all. Back from holidays, unfortunately Are we any closer to a date that suits all? Earlyish lunch on the 20 May (nightshift) or the 2 June. Or we leave it till later, maybe end of June or July. Its not going to get any colder.
-
Sorry fellas........I've been off line for a few days. You guys make the date and I'll try to fit in with you.
-
Work for me is a bit volatile for the time being. At any one time I'm only getting 24 hours notice if I'm working or not. Saturday's are easiest but still no guarantee to have the day off.
Pick a date and I'll try my best.
-
OK - in the interest of naming a date how about the 20th May? Time: For me any time is good but meeting around 10.30 in the north of the state. Location:- hmmm somewhere central??? Sorta depends who's coming as to whats central??? May i suggest... westbury, perth, longford, evandale or launceston? Does this sound good?
So what does everyone think of this suggestion? :beer

20th is good for me. Just have to be home by 5 p.m.
-
Any of those locations sounds great! The 20th sounds like it just might work as well.
-
How about Longford Bakery (very nice) at 11.30 a.m. 187 km from Hobart, 218 km from Stanley and a little bit more for Nubeena. If the weather is crap, maybe a Saturday night concensus at about 7 p.m. and go from there?
What do you guys reckon?
-
I'm happy with that. Let's ride men! :thumbsup
-
All good here too. We've got a quorum! :thumbs ...Baz?
-
Weather permitting, at this point I can make it ok. It's difficult planning too far ahead for me as I have two boys (13 & 15) who sometimes spring things on me that I have great difficulty wriggling out of. I'll do my best to make it!!
-
Weather's looking like it might be OK for Sunday!!
-
Weathers not looking too bad. How about us southerners meet at Brighton at 9.30. Might make it easier for Barry, depending on his route. Or a bit earlier if we want a coffee stop along the way, maybe at Pontville, Bagdad, Ross, Tunbridge and Campbell Town.
-
9.30 sounds good - CU there.
-
I'm planning on leaving about 0800, so 0930 should be OK for me as well. Foxy will very likely be coming with me to keep me company.........after all...........he is an ex ST 1100 rider...............and I'm trying hard to talk him into buying another one!!
Cheap one for sale in today's Mercury....95 model $3500 ono........anyone know anything about it??
-
I saw that. A new bike for Foxy maybe?
-
Another great day. A little chilly. Excellent company and one of my favourite rides back down the Lake Highway from Longford up the Poattina twisties to Bothwell. Now to source some heated hand grips. I recently bought a heated vest and it worked a treat. Thanks for a good day guys.
-
You're so right Carsten, it was another great ride! Fantastic ride home from Longford through Cressy, Poatina and the Central Plateau to Bothwell.......up the mountain then down the other side, between the Great Lakes......fantastic!! Some of the hair pin turns seemed to come out of nowhere >:()..........my mate Foxy who was riding with us for the day on his Yamaha XVS 1300 Cruiser told me later he had real trouble making some of the turns.......they were just so tight. The scenery was superb, but then again it's Tazzie hey! :) The weather turned it on for us.....sunny all day 8) with light winds......but it was just a little chilly. Foxy and I left home at 0740 and we had 4-5 degrees C for the best part of 100kls before we met up with Kev, Simon and Carsten, then it was 7 degrees all the way to Longford. It's the first time I've actually used my heated grips, and I gotta tell ya............they were a god send! It was a big day, I arrived home at 1700 hours, just as it was starting to get dark. How far did we travel????????........565kls for me, and I was having so much fun the back side wasn't even feeling the pinch!! Thanks fellas for another great day :thumbsup

Couldn't fit this pic with my last post.
-
Good on ya Kev............I love the music!!
Did you take any footage of the twisties through the mountains?
I've gotta get me a Video Cam!
But then again, on second thoughts..............I'd have to learn how to post them on this site, and that might be too much for me to handle!! I could be looking for some guidance from an experienced Forensic Police Computer Genius.
-
Couch,
The easiest way to post vids, is to upload them to Photobucket, and the simply posy a link to the vid. Also keeps the bandwidth usage of OzSToc down that way.
-
Great stuff guys. Longford is a great little spot. We stopped at Woolmers just prior - then Longford for lunch.
Looks like a great day - well done Tassies!
Cheers, Diesel

When I get my Cam I'll look to you for guidance Kev!
Did you take any footage of the twisties through the mountains?
I took video of all the twisties from the bottom to the top, over an hours worth....in the process of splitting it as everyone will fall asleep watching it....
P.S.
Videos on Photobucket suck.....better using u-tube and link it that way...
-
Very nice Kev. Look forward to the twisty bits. Can the video be put on DVD?
-
Top day and great company guys -> looking forward to another one in a couple of months. Cheers!
:thumb
-
Well Kev......where is it................I'm waiting to view it!! :well what's takin soooooooo long!!
-
Thats nice Kev, really well done. Watched it twice.
-
Good on ya Kev, well done. :thumb
Foxy told me he pulled up and let you go past because he almost ran off the road trying to keep up with those in front. It gave him peace of mind to sit at the back on his cruiser and make his own pace. He's thinkin seriously about buying another ST now. I've told him he can have a ride on mine to see how he likes the 1300. He's a seasoned rider with hundreds of thousands of kls behind him, many of them on a ST1100, so I trust him to look after my bike. Of course he'd be under threat of death if he dropped it!! >:()
Keep up the good work Kev! :)
-
Top stuff - excellant work - you're the MAN Kev :thumbsup. And looking at those blue skies and dry roads in the video makes me think we were SOOOOO lucky with the weather - the forecast for this weekend = Sat: 12 & rain; Sunday: 11 & Clearing shower. Glad we did it when we did! :runyay
