Wow! $10,000 for a Burgundy 2001 ST1100 that's only done 55,000 kms. What a bargain. WOW:
Further down the page is a Red 2001 ST1100 that's done 138,000 kms for $2,300 negotiable.
Neither bike is registered.

My 2000 ST1100 had 37500 on the clock when I bought it in November last year for less than 1/2 the price. Saw the other bike as well, looks to have seen damage.
-
Much easier to sell and transfer to a new owner if they registered
Red Book estimates for the 2001A model
Private Prices $6,100 - $7,300
Trade In Prices $4,300 - $5,100

Wow..I reckon I paid pretty much top price at $4,500 for my new st1100...it's unmarked and in near new condition which is why I paid the extra AND trucked it down from QLD. :bl11
Still..good luck to the seller if he can get that amount as it also helps to keep the value up on our bikes eh! :thumbsup

I bought my first ST1100P at the Moorebank auctions in November 2001. The 2000 bike had 44,000 kms on the clock and it was the only one up for auction that day.
11 bidders later, including me from Canberra and another from Wagga Wagga, and the bike was mine for $10,800. I had to buy it because I had travelled up from Canberra in the train and I needed it to get home.
I paid the money and telephoned for insurance cover.
I stopped at a garage to fill for the journey home and couldn’t get the bike started again. A big S was appearing on the dial which I thought meant some security measure.
I had never owned a bike that wouldn’t start with the side stand down.
I finally got it going and was amazed at the difference between the new bike and my 1985 Yamaha XJ900.

Interesting isnt it, a forum which on the surface appears to purport to vertues of Honda ST1100 yet when you delve into the threads it has a large proportion of tales that go out they way in under mining that ethos. This being one of them.
What exactly is wrong with the owner asking $10k for a bike that may well, apart from tyres and fuel replacement and prescribed routine maintenance, be capable of being continually ridden around Austalia for the next 90,000kms?
Bit sad I think where I got buyers jumping over themselves to purchase a 1940's Villiers 2-stroke 125cc bike that didnt go from me for $4k, which is about on par with what a lot of contributors to this forum believe is good value for their investments resale which, presumable does go.
I also echo what others have tried to say, that there are significant and noticable improvements on the above cited advertised ST1100A, to all the others (police spec bike included), that came before it.
Just a thought,
Cheers the can :-)

Maybe, 'Can, if the Owner keeps it in storage and free of corrosion until 2070, it will be worth the equivalent of $4000.
But just as your bike would have fetched its market price in 1940, so these twice-superseded ST11s have to accept what the market says now, and it ain't ten grand.
Historical context, mate. :grin
Oh, and money. Wot thuh

Knowing that when Honda was looking at a replacement/upgrade for the ST1100 they asked some of the owners as to how they could improve it and hence the ST1300 came on the scene. What was expected to happen never did; most of the 1100 owners of the day kept their bikes.
I paid $13,500 for my 1100A in May 2006 and it only had 11,500 km - quit low km. for a 7 year old bike. If I had the cash and was after a new bike I'd look at the red one as I know it would be good for another 150,000 km at least. But in saying that I'd also look at a CTX1300 and the F6B 'wing.

If I was given an ultimatum to get rid of my bike, I might put $10k on it, just so I could say 'no interest, l might as well keep it'.
The marque is fantastic, no question about that. The market will decide what it is worth, and in SA we don't see too many ST's, he may be lucky. There was an ST1300 with trailer for sale at $13k a few months back.

I know my place, so I bid you all farewell.
Au revoir, greencan :-)

It reminds me of a bike shop in Melbourne that had an early model GL1500 American import for 10500 I think it was late 80's early 90's they had it for ages and may still have it.

Pity you won't see this, having departed, but to take your bat and ball and walk off the pitch is disappointing.
It is a fair and clean discussion. No names were called. No argument ad hominem.
You were left with plenty of room for a come-back, and I know you're capable of defending your case.
I know it would be appreciated by all if you stayed around to brighten the place with your knowledge and wisdom about motorbikes.

Nobody was putting the bike down, the comments were about the unrealist price wanted for it.
It may be at low ks for age, butalong with that is the problem of hardening rubber pits and seals through non use. Timing belt could be suspect.
