Title: Thanks for the add
Post by: Lorien Vale on September 25, 2017, 06:18:29 PM
Hi Thanks for adding me to the Forum. My Name is Les I live in Goolma in central west NSW and I have just bought an ST1100 Police or so the rego papers say. Although it does have the volt meter and the extra switches so I guess it is, It has been changed to a two seater though. This is my first bike for nearly twenty years apart from a quad bike on the farm. Prior to moving here I lived in Springwood in the Blue Mts and commuted to Sydney twice a day on a CX 500. The CX was an awesome machine and I was determined to get another water cooled shaft drive unit and it had to be Honda so here I am with a Blue ST

Welcome to the club and the forum Les. There's a good bunch of people here that have developed a great deal of knowledge on these machines. I will even go as far as saying that at times, our collective knowledge is greater that that of the average mechanic. Just ask and someone is bound to have faced the issue at some point.
Welcome and hope to meet up at some future RTE (Ride To Eat).

Ruben

G'day Les, welcome once again. I also have an ST1100 ex police. All those extra switches are great for adding lights and Farkles. Look forward to meeting at an RTE also.  From Picton. NSW

Welcome Les, and congrats on the new steed. I too had a CX as my last bike 25 years ago. It was a really good tourer for its size. Likewise, I too fell in love with water cooling and shaft drive, and the V-configuration engine. There is something about the sound of the V that soothes jaded nerves.

Gday Les and welcome. Great to see another past cx owner like me! I still a few cxes in the stable, including my lovely cx500A and a mint cx650euro. I also am a recent st1100 owner, also blue, and it's is bloody fantastic! You won't believe how good the big st can corner and handle compared with the cxes which as you know are top heavy....photo attached is my bike in the rear and my mate's pigeon pair in the front!
Cheers

Mine was black too. Interestingly I don't notice the twisting torque when I open her up like the CX did.

You wont feel the torque twist....remember the cx is a twisted (offset) twin. The might v4 st engine is a vastly different beastie with all the weight down very low eh! Bet you DID notice an acceleration difference though!  :clap

Welcome Les.

There are a few members near you in ST terms.

Hopefully you can make it to the Natinal Rally at Wooli, NSW on the weekend of 20th to 22nd Oct and meet up with some really good folks.

hey Les... welcome to OzSTOC from Tropical North Qld... following on from Gadget's previous comment - if you can find the time next year and would like to stretch your Steed's legs with some interstate touring, then come and join your fellow OzSTOCers at next years NR2018, here in Mackay... Cheers, John & Kate.

Sounds like a lot of fun. However being a farmer still (Not fully retired) it is difficult to get away from the farm for more than a day or two. So we may have to wait a while yet.

As a kid (mid teens) I was hired by friends of my parents to run their farm while they went on a two week holiday. Milking cows, moving irrigation pipes, slashing paddocks etc. Just an idea.

Good to see another good ST1100 in enthusiastic ownership.  Welcome to the fray.
You wanna visit Wooli for a day or two in October?

That's very kind of you. I'll keep it in mind. I am going to see if I can make it Wooli but no promises yet. If I do it will only be for a day I would expect.
