Had a bit of a drama yesterday discovered that the rear tyre was way beyond replacement time. So after ringing around Dubbo and Mudgee found a new one in Mudgee. However when I got to the shop this morning instead of the 160/70ZR17 it is a 170/60ZR17 Angel ST. Having no choice but to go with this option as Leaving at 7:00 tomorrow morning for Wooli what is the likely ramifications of this size change. The Honda dealer saaid it would be OK I guess though it will alter economy if nothing else. :bl11

I have always used 170/60ZR17! You might even get better mileage out of it. I routinely get 25,000 kays out of a pair, but it's always the rear that wears out first. I guess it's the wheelspin on departing the traffic lights.
The Angels are a great tyre. I just prefer the Michelins PR4GTs. Last pair cost me $480 fitted with a dab of moly thrown in. :beer

Thank Biggles, I went to Repco and got some moly while I was waiting for the tyre change.

The only available tyres to suit the 1100 OEM rear size are Bridgestone and Dunlop

For the ABS model the 170/60 is a better option if you can't get a 160/70.

My old girl is non ABS so that at least is not a problem :wink1

There will be no noticeable effect on your bike, I have been running that size in michelin Pr2, PR3 and PR4 for years. As the speedo is driven by the front wheel thats not a problem either

I've had the PR3 and T30r GT (Bridgestone) and the next rear will be a PR4 when the current Dunlop wears out.
