On a recent ride I spotted an ST with the foot pegs placed forward so that the riders legs were straighter.
I only got a quick glance as it went passed. Having a crook knee I think this may be a good option for me to be more comfortable on long rides. Any suggestions as to where they can be sourced from and how they are fitted?

These are called "Highway Foot Rest" or "Highway Pegs" and until recently were available from "Motorcycle Larry" in the USA. The fit to the tip over bars under the black covers on the side of the bike. Sadly this business appears to be no longer trading and second hand ones are as rare as hens teeth. Keep an eye on the Forum because I'm sending my set up to "gone-cruising" in Queensland who hopes to work with a fabricator to have some sets made for sale to members.

Thanks Pete. Even for those of us who have a set, this is still important because if the bike falls over when they are extended, they are kaput. Since they are made from an aluminium billet, once they bend, they can't be straightened. In fact, they have a crack along the bend. MCL used to sell replacement parts.

Seems like many of the really useful Farkles, available commercially, are no longer being produced!

He seems to have focused on the Concourse farkles.
His bracket is obviously designed to fit "off-the-shelf" pegs that usually bolt onto the frame or crash bars. There are lots of variations of rubber, chrome and steel pegs available.

About 8 months back a mate who is/was a machinist by trade, made up a pair of highway pegs to suit my ST1300 using aluminium flat bar, S/S Alan head bolts with dome nuts, 2 pieces of round solid aluminium and a pair of HD pegs.

Cutting a hole in the plastic tip-over covers was pure guesswork but the following photos will give a better idea

You might note there's a slight twist (up) forward near the pegs themselves to better angle the pegs when extended

:thumbs. Looks good. I have found the standard highway pegs to close. Ok for jockeys but not 6'2" with long legs. These look like they could be adjusted to go even further forward. :whistle :whistle who do I know in Adelaide with a lathe in his back yard.

I'll often hang my feet right over the pegs just to stretch the legs all the way out. It takes a bit of getting used to, not having the feet near the controls so again, I'll often just have one foot stretched out.

It still works fine
I don't know 100% for sure, but I believe that highway pegs should fold backwards/upwards so that they can't cause injuries to anyone they strike.
