Shiney,I'm putting my name down for this Maintenance Day. 

This will be the first major service that I do on the bike, so I want to go a little crazy.  What fluids do you recommend I get?  I'm guessing Engine Oil, Gearbox Oil, Brake and Clutch Fluid, Coolant ... Do you (or anyone else who wants to let me know) have any recommended brands or other maintenance items (I replaced the spark plugs a few months ago)?

My problem:
Around about 3000 kilometers after I bought my bike the front brakes began to grind and I replaced them that same week.  I put the low kms down to the previous owner not changing them for the road worthy. 
Around about 3000 kilometers after the last change my front brakes are grinding again.  Actually 3000 is probably an over estimation, it was 7th April when I replaced them.  The pads bought were:

What brand do you use (again, anyone can chip in with a brand)?  Are you happy with the kms you get out of them?

I use those pads and find that the rear ones occasionally make a loud noise when the bike is rolled out of the garage and some times when slowing down under engine compression. No noise when applied normally.  If they have them in stock you could try the organic ones (remember to ask for your OZSTOC discount).

G'day everyone,
Unfortunately I have been moved to another job with the company I work for. The new job comes with a few drawbacks including a new roster...
So (unless someone wants to take over the Maintenance Day) I'll have to change the date to near the end of the month (sorry guys) >:()

Anyway, if nobody minds the change of date I'll post up the new date in a couple of days :thumbs

All good, changing the date is no problem for me.


Better news than Shiney's new job. (Sorry Shiney, congratulations by the way).  I took my bike down to the good people at Metalgear. Turns out I have sticky calipers (also explains the excess fuel I burn).  I'll hopefully get everything cleaned up in the next few weeks. 


What I wanted to add was, they couldn't help me enough.  I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs brake stuff done.

Hi Shiney,

I'll be coming up for this mainly so I can have others take my bike around the block & tell me if my suspension is as shocking as my friend says it is.
I ride it almost every day & while I know it's soggy, I don't have any other bikes for comparison & I'm used to my bike.

Fortunately if I do need a shock rebuild, I live 2 suburbs over from Rocklea & can find a suspension guy easily.

Well the maintenance day is done and dusted.
Everyone seemed to have a good time, lots of discussions and laughs were had and we even managed to do some maintenance :thumb

This time around we did a demonstration showing how to change a headlight bulb  8)

Shonee had a slip and fall this morning. Nothing too serious, but she's in a bit of pain, so we couldn't make it.
