Title: Wanted . . ST1100 gearbox or engine gearbox combo
Post by: STroppy on May 08, 2018, 07:22:39 AM
Just wondering if anyone out there has an old ST1100 out there lying, dying in the shed . . . I’m after a gearbox but will happily take that and any other bits you want to get rid of . . . For the right price of course . .

I reckon Wendy has done or is doing a engine/gearbox transplant in her ST1100, and the old one might be available.

I have a complete engine minus alternator in the shed, don't know how you would get it though.

Maybe WAG can take it as cabin luggage . . .

I wonder how much a gearbox on it’s own would weigh n cost for freight, presuming you might be willing to separate?

Otherwise I might just have to do a touristy trip in my Pajero for a few weeks later this year. What is the condition of the motor?

Ask Wendy what it cost to freight her engine/gearbo load from my place to Darwin, which might give you some idea of shipping costs.    We strapped it down onto a pallet with ratchet straps and tied a poly tarp over it.

From memory it has done about 110k, I was given it when I bought my ST, have thought of removing carbs and starter motor and taking it to the tip as it is only taking up space in the shed.
