Only a misely 400 klicks on today's ride but an enjoyable day nevertheless. My first port of call was Mallala. I have passed through here many times but always on the way home so coming in from this direction was a bit of a novelty.

I'm not sure if this is Calomba or Windsor but I can say it is off the beaten track and no doubt not many ST's have been down here.

No road trip in SA is complete without seeing one of two things - a salt lake or a disused railway. I saw both today. Whether this turntable in Balaklava is in use or not I am not sure.

Once back on tarmac it was off to the venue for the RTE via Nantawarra, Lochiel and Blyth. Quite often I am the first to arrive but Richo and Ken from the Ozstoc facebook page were already parked up by the time I arrived.

I initially planned a straight ride down Main North Road for the return leg but after just a few minutes on the road said sod that and deviated to Mintaro and Manoora. So many South Australian towns have buildings like that called "Institutes". I don't know if they are old enducation buildings or something to do with the military but no doubt someone will enlighten me.

I also deviated via Rhynie, Stockport and Hamley Bridge before heading home via Main North Road.

Well I couldn't do the RTE as I do my annual brass monkey swim with the cuttlefish just outside of Whyalla at Point Lowly. A balmy 15 C outside and 13 C in the water.
Went through Mallala early this morning, thought about doing the run through (in the car) to Balaklava and Clare ahead of you all, but ran with meeting my first dive time at 2 today, which was the best time, the next dive at 3.30 cut a bit short as it was getting even colder. The benefit was, once we got out of the water, dolphins and seal came into feed.
Trashed one cheap underwater camera, but the better one still going for tomorrows dive. Just can't get the photos off the card at the moment.
When I can get some photos off, will post a few.
Glad all who rode had an enjoyable time.

Chris and I had a beaut day out, and at 400km it was Chris's longest day on the "new" Beemer. While it was a cool day that topped at 12.5 degrees for us, it was sunny and a perfect day for travelling the backroads of the Adelaide Hills and the Barossa. We were laughing on the way home about tavelling 400km for a pie.
Thanks to Alans1100 for organizing the RTE and it was great to catch up with old friends. Ken Lanc from Berri was a new face who'll fit in very well.
