Winston 66, Wonders,
As my trailer build is nearing completion and I have fitted the new Kumo tyre , and the new windscreen I am thinking about a set of heated handgrips.
Unfortunatly I am suffering some pain in both thumbs and the doc . says must be ostio arthritis probably caused by physical work stress and old injuries.
Hopefully some heated grips might help to mitigate some of the pain.
I think that its probably just as well that I have now given up working for a living and now I can concentrate on the important things in life such as beer tasting and then riding my ST.
So my Question for today is.
Who can tell me about Heated Grips.
What has been tried?
what works?
Prices?
Suppliers?
and anything else please?

Hi Winston,
I have the genuine Honda grips fitted to my ST1300 and would not be without them although this is mainly because they completely eliminate white finger on cold and/or wet rides. Can't tell you how much they cost as they were already fitted when I got the bike. I'm not sure they do anything for my crook hands and wrist though. I suffer the same problems as you with my thumbs and wrist for mostly the same reasons. I have found handlebar risers were a great help as they enabled me to sit up straighter and take some of the weight off my hands, particularly the thumbs. I also take anti-inflamitories (as prescribed by my Doc) every time I ride and they make a huge difference. It is a bit sad when we start talking about medication on this forum but, if it helps us keep riding, hey! what the hell :)

Hey Winston,
A couple of years ago I bought Oxford grips (3-4 heating settings) from a bike shop for about $110.
Being the techno I am I had another bike shop install them for about $50.
For various reasons and agruments one always appears to be slightly warmer than the other.
However, I have never had trouble with them and they are a great relief for the aches in the hands and wrists.
I usually start turning them on when the air temp gets down to about 17C.

several years ago before the rebuild no 1 i suffered with tingleing fingers and numbness in hands, almost put a quiry on ulysses site but someone beat me. 3 answers came back all the same ! progresive fork springs, steering head bearings, and heated hand grips! not wanting to be a sook but so i tried that advise and it worked. i dont realy need them but i even use my heated grips even in summer "must help blood flow". goorrrd they work well and great when it is cold and turned up.
anyway the first set was oxfords! but because they are on 95% of the time the grip started to go soft and sticky ( after about 7 years that is). i now have a set from JOHN SPECKS BIG BIKE BITZ (doesnt only supply wing parts), had to get new st1100 throttle without a grip on it, not cheap but chrome, palmrest looks great well worth it. trottle lock will not fit but will figure that out just wires in wrong spot

I run Oxfords, installed in about 1hr as STOz notes one seems to get a little hotter than the other last time I used them or was I just bloody cold :cuss :cuss
