Title: What was in your Christmas Stocking?
Post by: StinkyPete on December 26, 2018, 11:04:05 AM
Santa was very good to me indeed.   :KissBlow

An Edge Pro Apex knife sharpening kit.   We now have razor sharp kitchen and pocket knives, after using a blade hacking pull through for some time.
and
Leaf blower with gutter cleaning attachment, which sounds like work to me.
and
Picnic Voucher from the kids, who will make us up a picnic hamper on a day of our choosing, which is a lovely thought and gift.

Wife and kids left a memory pillow under the tree before they flew out to Japan and then put the tree away.. Wife knows it probably would have still been there when they got back.  That was about it.  38°C meant I didn't dare venture outside.  I know my employer's christmas present this year is a chafing dish, but haven't recieved it yet.

Over the past 15 years or so, I would often get an esky (or a cooler of some sort) and / or a travel book, road atlas.  I have nine esky / coolers in the garage, I've purchased only one (two if the one on the front of the Elite camper trailer), and I have at least six books / atlas, in a cupboard downstairs.

But hey, my Mum (who is now 95 yo), did have some memory problems, and now some mobility problems, so Helen has (for the past few years) offered to do Christmas (and Birthday) shopping for her.  This year (and last) I received a very nice RM Williams shirt.

The travel gift theme has not gone altogether though, as this year I received from the children (are they still children in their 30's and 40's?) and grand children, a couple of vouchers.

One is a voucher for a meal or wine at the Josef Chromy restaurant and winery, just out of Launceston, and the other is an accommodation voucher (valid for over 300,000 places worldwide).

Am I paranoid to think they were/are trying to get ride of me?

One of the valid hotel - motels is one of our local venues, I'll show 'em that can't get rid of me that easy, a night or three in the Quest penthouse at Heidelberg will do nicely.

With having a $5000 birthday present from Heather (more ours really) in July in the form of an ST1300A plus the cost of flight to Perth and related return expenses I expect that it would be enough to cover the next few birthdays and Christmases for a few years to come.

Tammie gave me a Cadbury giant block of plain chocolate.

Cheryl ( Heather's sis) gave me some type of either after shave or cologne; not yet checked it out.

Dad gave me a 10 can pack Kirk's of Ginger Beer which was more than expected and he gave both Tammie and Heather each a hanging garden container of flowers which will last a while if looked after.

Heather wanted a wind chime that she saw in our local chemist so that was easy.

I mentioned that I wouldn't mind getting some driving lights for the 1300 so Heather put her hand up to pay for them to make it a belated xmas present in the near future.

I had to go and get my present because I had to try it on- no returns on helmets.  So I'm just back from a ride trying out my new Shoei RYD helmet in white.  It's beautifully quiet. The only snag has been the clip to tether the strap is too far up the strap- I'll have to work on that.
The kiddies pooled their funds and bought Mrs Biggles and me tickets to see Jersey Boys in January.
I gave my wife another couple of m/c books to wrap- need to keep up the supply of excerpts for OZSTOC.  My surprise for her was like Pete's- a set of Global knives- the Katana (which I found out is Japanese for Samurai sword) model.  Hers for me is my annual shirt (although this one is a bit left-field to my taste- it had better be really cool for Summer!)

My Daughter, Sarah, bought me, of all things, but good, A day out on the Paintball field in Dingley. 10 tickets in all so should have no probs getting all the kids involved, with me and my 3 useless brothers. That will happen over the next few months. Should provide a few laughs... :grin,, :wht11

If you get hit with blue paint, it'll probably match the bruises.

Cool?  As in temperature, or as in "Hey, cool man"?  If the latter, pics will be required.

I bought two of these plant holders from the local mens shed. Hey were made from a really heavy hardwood left over from aproject. Couldnt resist them. And Santa got me some woodworking tools. A small square and other specialty tools, and some bicycle gear. It has been a special time as I hope it has for everyone. :Like:

It looks to be beautifully made.  Extra special that it's in a heavy recycled timber.    :thumbsup

In OzSTOC colours ;-*

It's smaller then the pictures lead to believe, however split into the two parts it fits the exact size of my work benches :thumbs

Cheers
