Many excerpts from rider's books.  I don't think I have that much time to read as much as Biggles does.

Many thanks guys.  Yes Bodo- and I've been neglecting that lately.  The books I've been reading are riding technique books, less suited to extracting quotations.  I'll post some excerpts soon.  I have ordered in a new traveller's book and look forward to sharing it.  But that's yet another thing that's become more expensive since the gummint whacked GST on all imports.  When the GST was first mooted, books were to be exempted because of their educational value, but it's hard to balance the budget when there are fat cat Public "Servants" to be paid well over $250K per year, and then there's the 15% superannuation they award themselves...

My theory on the GST - It should have been raised by 1% every year from when it started, equally income tax should have been reduced by 1% each year. When income tax had been reduced to zero %, then this would be the level of GST that would be needed to maintain the economy  :thumb

Hey, am I that fat?

Does this assume income tax and GST are in the same order of magnitude?

No - But the GST should be taken to the level that requires us to pay zero income tax - Tax is then fairer as it is across all people depending on what they consume.
