Title: Dress for the slide
Post by: hobs on March 07, 2020, 12:43:25 PM
Saw another moronic Harley rider sitting at the traffic lights wearing an inadequate pin-head helmet, tank top, footy shorts and thongs. He thought he was king-sh-t. What a moron and a serious injury result if he had an off. Would have commented to him if I was beside him, but I was in my car on the other side of the highway. I support a law compelling appropriate apparel when riding.

I’d rather not have riding apparel legislated, but feel that injuries due to lack of protective gear shouldn’t be covered by CTP insurance

They arent, the rider is the party of the first part. CTP covers the occupants of the other vehicle.. At least as far as I am aware..

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance covers injuries to people such as pedestrians, cyclists and other road users when your vehicle is involved in an accident. CTP is a legal requirement for all registered vehicles in every State and Territory.

But wouldn't it be covered by the other party's CTP in the case of an accident?

If another party was involved, and they caused the accident... Probably

In the NT it’s currently a “no fault” cover, so no matter the circumstance, any injury resulting from an accident involving registered motor vehicle is covered
