Hi there, I am looking to import a ST1100 from Aus to NZ, would appreciate any help and advice from people who have done this. :whit11-r :whit11-r

I haven't heard of it being done as an import, but I think the best way to get the facts will be to write to your NZ Customs people and the Motor Transport department. Once you get the import details sorted, you might check when the next "Get Routed" container will be going across the Tasman. Dave's the top expert in m/c international transport.

At Curdievale last march Gordo (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?action=profile;u=598) was talking about someone who does it and their brochure. Drop him a private message and he might give you more details.

I've put a link to this to one of our Members in NZ who did this back in 2016/17

Hi As Gary indicated we did this in 2016 when we moved home from Aus to NZ
my experience and advice would be most likely not worth it
Ok first up what is the bike worth in Aus, verse what is it worth in NZ, NZ tidy ST1100 is $4000 to $5000 with $6000 being the absolute limit for low km and mint
Costs you have to pay in NZ that agents in Aus will not warn you about
Unless you have owned it for more than 12 months in Aus you will have to pay duty, a percentage of the bikes NZ value say $150 to 250
Compliance inspection $480
Proof of ownership $260
Rego 12 months $550
MAF inspection $480
Customs inspection $480
This is all on top of the cost in Australia to clean the bike, package the bike and ship the bike From memory $1200 to $1500
However once you are here, you can look forward to some of the best riding in the world

Thanks everyone for the help, yeah all the "hidden" costs make it a real expensive option, what was a good price in Aus becomes an expensive price in NZ, so for me it is a no go. Thanks again for all the help and advice.
