Title: Delay in getting parts
Post by: Skip on September 28, 2020, 06:55:52 PM
Just wondering if anyone else has been waiting on parts due to Covid, apparently.
Back on the 19th July, I went to go for a ride but discovered a small pool of coolant under the old girl. 2004/5 1300. I don't do any mechanical work myself, so took it to my local Honda dealer. They diagnosed a leak from a hose, that is housed inside a sheath/outer pipe. They told me it would be mid-September to get the hose. I rang today to find out where they were up to, and told "It is still on backorder due to overseas delay because of Covid".  Has anyone else had trouble with sourcing parts at this time?

Hi Skip, will a second hand one get you back on the road temporarily or does the bike have to be almost stripped down to replace it.?

The dealership said it is a 5 to 6 hour job, so guessing it is a major job to get to the hose. They quoted about $40 for parts.

Further to my initial post, can anyone identify the ACTUAL hose that 'they' claim needs replacing? They said that it is a 'long' hose that runs inside of a outer sheath. Is there such a hose? The dealership still cannot give me an ETA as they have no tracking of the part. Its been 2 1/2 months now.

I will endeavor to pinpoint which hose exactly.
I can only assume Japan.

I can only assume Japan.

Sounds about right as I bought a JIS screwdriver from a seller in Japan and it's been 2 1/2 months and still no sign of it... :||||  :fp

Much quicker to source parts from either America or the UK me thinks...  :thumbs

Anyways...hope the part turns up soon!!!

For your year item 20 here:-

https://bluecitymotorcycles.com.au/oem/honda/search-parts?brand=honda&year=2004&model=2475&assembly=19537

appears to be a hose inside a hose but short.

For 2008 model items 20 AND 16 :-

https://bluecitymotorcycles.com.au/oem/honda/search-parts?brand=honda&year=2008&model=4901&assembly=69563

appear to be hoses inside hoses with item 16 being a long one.

Some freight is a lot faster than others. Last week I received a de-soldering iron dispatched  from Hong Kong in April

Well I have a part number, but apparently there are none in Australia at any Honda Dealerships. I rang Blue City out of interest and was told the same information. Part No. 19513-MSC-000.  :'(  I don't imagine an order from Partzilla would be any quicker at this stage?  Thanks for your assistance Glen & Rusty.
