Had lunch at Cafe by Farmer & Sun  Gympie today.

They fed 30 people, and not one complaint. Beautiful food.

Just had dinner at the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club.

I'm thinking an overnighter to Tin Can Bay with a Lunch stop at the Cafe by Farmer and Sun on the way up  is quite on the cards.

Shonee and I went to the Boardwalk Restaurant & Bar in North Lakes.

It's beside the lake in North Lakes, open from 7:30 am to 7 pm, and has undercover parking.

It would make a great RTE destination for breakfast, lunch or early dinner.

Possibly even a mid week RTE. I could duck out, grab breakfast, and be home in time for work.

Anyone interested?

Plainland Hotel which was cancelled because of Covid
Cabarlah Hotel. We went there quite a few years ago
Exchange Hotel Kilcoy
Aratula Hotel
Royal Hotel Kalbar

Just a few that I have been to and think would be good for an RTE

There are dozens of great venues and destinations in SE Qld. As long as there is a good spread of destinations, N S E W, that gives everyone a good chance to attend a couple per year that isn't too far from them. As co-ordinators, Shiney and Gadget do a great job every year of organizing these things. Kudos to you both.   :clap  :clap

Gardens Galore cafe
Cherry Tree cafe
Cafe Jacqui’s
For something completely different Best Brook mountain resort  can overnight in cabins go horse riding next door is Gap Creek dirt bike park  but can just do lunch or smoko
But if you want to go up market AND I mean really up market there is Spices Gap Retreat (road in not bike friendly and fat wallets are a must  ;-*)

Ah yes I was lucky enough to have to visit said establishment through work it is much better being paid to go up there compared to paying to go up there   😊

:blu13 I had the day off yesterday. So went for a ride to Crows Nest via Mt Mee, Kilcoy, Yarraman. Going through Cooyar, noticed Gary Mccoy's place is no longer around. Had a great Burger at Dingers Fish & Chips Crows Nest. Came home via Lake Cresbrook, Esk, Mt Glorious. Great day for a ride.  :blu13left

It's that time of year again to organise 2026 RTE'S

Linville Pub up John Morton's way is very good

Maybe an overnighter to Esk stay at the Esk caravan park in cabins and they have motel rooms
Or the Grand Hotel has 15 rooms
We have the pub for dinner and a great Cafe up the road
The Brisbane Valley Roasters at Esk have great meals and coffee

We always talk about the Blackbutt Bakery but the Blackbutt Hotel have great meals and good undercover seating out the back that would be suitable for an RTE John Morton goes there every Wednesday for lunch

Harrisville is another great pub with a good deck out the back for an RTE
Kalbar not far away is also good with inside eating

We have lunch or Brunch every Wednesday with my ride mates so get to try out the best Hotels and cafes in riding distance from Toowoomba

I could do a rating system like Williamson is doing in Victoria
Meals affordability
Beer garden decking or inside
Parking ect
What makes a great pub for an RTE
We don't do a lot of close overnighter mainly longer rides interstate when we travel on the bikes

What makes a great pub for an RTE....

In VIC, and it seems in SA & QLD, we need to make sure that the pub hasn't closed.  RTE arrangements have been rearranged very quickly (as late as the day prior) when we have found out a pub has closed, or doesn't do a lunch.

Another very subtle criterion in VIC has been that we haven't visited the pub previously.  This has been the case since early 2018, with two, may be three, exceptions.

Yes, Willalooka Tavern and Bowhill General Store both posted that they were closing or only doing takeaway with in a week or three of us going.  Today the Yanyarrie (formerly Carrieton) hotel announced they have closed again.
