I have had several request for the electric screen assembly from the 1300 I am parting out. A few have only needed the drive gear on the motor. A new member, Adrian72, decided to get his mate with a CNC to make some. The first one is due off the milling machine within the next week. Once it is has been checked out Adrian is looking at a batch run. Unfortunately even with a batch run and due to the intricate machining they will be expensive but a lot cheap then buying a complete assembly from Honda. So if you need one watch this space.

Interesting, we're looking at manufacturing them this side as well, but using a different production method, CNC machining is too intricate and costly.

Shall be interested to see what you come up with.
I had to follow this up yesterday and Adrian talks about them being available soon. Yes CNC will make them expensive but very cheap compared to having to buy a complete assembly.

Have a look at this :thumbsup BikeQuip is looking to manufacture the troublesome screen adjustment gear which wears out. Steve at BikeQuip continues to support the ST community with high quality and useful products.

I met with a leading local AM (Additive Manufacturing) supplier yesterday to discuss the gear. The finished product should be both durable and affordable. SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) in SS seems to be the preferred choice, but this may change. Some machining will be required after the process to bring selected faces down to size. I will keep you guys posted.

Hi Leo, you still got this? Might need it here, will strip and check if you've still got. Might tackle this task this week.

Yes still available PM sent

Okay, I've stripped the front of the ST1300 to get to the windscreen drive gear. FMD, what a task.
The drive gear is worn, shows some very minor signs of wear, but hardly noticeable, see pics.
Difference between pics 1 & 2 is drive has been rotated 180 degrees.
The question is, is this drive worn to the point that a new one is needed? I don't to spend $160 and find out I still have a problem.

Looks okay to me, what is the problem you are having?

Looks okay to me, what is the problem you are having?
Screen not raising of lowering evenly, LHS moves more freely than RHS, resulting in windscreen on a lean.
First look at it (after removing screen and front panel) revealed that the flexible drive worm was not sitting in the U-shaped channel as I raised the screen). This led me to believe that the drive gear was working okay, ie. driving the flexible drive worm, but I've stripped it down removed the gear to make sure it wasn't the problem (as it has often been a problem with other ST1300s).

Maybe a clean and relubricate will fix it.

Maybe a clean and relubricate will fix it.
It's certainly gunna get that, but it's a two or three hour job to re-assemble and test, and I want to eliminate / fix alternatives and be a little more confident it's fixed before I tackle that task.
I've been doing some checking on ST-owners, I think the problem (and solution) may be outlined in page 8 of the second pdf on this link.

The same goes for this pdf: https://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/_files/ugd/bcaf63_068f391c637a4c68b0efa3261bd92f88.pdf (https://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/_files/ugd/bcaf63_068f391c637a4c68b0efa3261bd92f88.pdf)
BikeQuip in the UK did a bit of a crowd funded run on having some replacement parts made: https://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/screen-mech-repair (https://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/screen-mech-repair)
Not cheap though, especially now that our dollar has gone down the gurgler so you might be looking at selling one of the grandkids if you want to go down that road... :whistle :rofl

I thought the original gear is plastic and that's why they made a metal one like I got from USA and have for sale
But I could be wrong

Your choice, Michael! Personally I'd sell all of them... :p

This "archived" article from Steve from BikeQuip might give you a better understanding of how the screen works...or doesn't.
Ignore the "proposed solution" section as that is now old news now that the new parts have been funded and produced.

I seem to remember donating to the crowd funding thing as insurance. If I recall correctly it meant you'd get a bit off if you had to buy one. If this is still the case, you are welcome to use my name if it helps as I no longer have the need for such things.

As the general consensus is that the drive gears is okay, I stripped the bike further and discovered that the culprit is a busted one of these thingies.
