The new SpotWalla website is open. This is an entirely new website and it's located at:
https://new.spotwalla.com
The old site will be up and running for a while since it will take time for users to migrate to the new site.
You will need to create a new account. Once you log in you will be able to import your old devices and data.
Garmin InReach and SPOT Users!! No issues for y'all. Your devices will import and function on the new site without issues.
SWConnect Users!! After importing your old device, you will need to install the new SWTracker app from the app store. It's a rebranded version of SWConnect that works with the new site.
Bubbler Users!! Unfortunately, we're still waiting on Google to green light the new version of Bubbler. It will be called Bubbler GPS New when it hits the app store. For now, I recommend waiting until it's available.
gibbyTrip Users!! Eventually, you're going to migrate to the new system. At this point I'm not sure gibbyTrip will be available on the new site so consider installing SWTracker or waiting. If you decide to proceed, you can still import all your old data and trips.
If you participate in any group or event location pages, I'll be working with the page owners over the next few weeks to get them up and operational on the new site. I've created a few already, but eventually all the active pages will be moved. It's just going to take some time.
Y'all have fun and be safe out there.
Jason

Done :-) Very painless.

Thanks for the info

No mention yet how much it will cost.

No biggles there is not...but at least there has been plenty of warning & I don't think anybody expected it to be free forever trying to survive on donations alone for all the development and hosting requirements :thumbsup

Gave the new Spotwalla and Bubbler a test run on the first half of my shift this morning. Can't find a way to adjust the points shown on the map yet.

I have noticed the new spotwalla website doesn't display well in portrait mode on my Note 20 Ultra.

I didn't even notice that as I do everything in landscape if I can. Funnily enough I couldn't use the username Bodo in the old Spotwalla because someone else had beaten me to it but I can in the new one, probably because I beat them to it. As I rarely use it, and since the last update it has been sporadic, I'm going to close my account.
GreenAlp that Bodø uses is more reliable.

I haven't used spotwalla for a while for the same reason.

It hasn't missed a beat for me using the iPhone app, and I don't have a problem with paying for a useful service. I flicked them an email to clarify the pricing:
I have a few trips stored, and I would run an active device for a few days per year. These are usually for IBA or FarRiders rides, though I wouldn’t bother getting a credit coupon. Am I correct in assuming that I will need to pay the 4c per day storage fee for 365 days per year and also pay the 3c per day activity fee for the few days per year during which I have an active device?
I received the following reply from Jason:
Hey, Steve.
Yes, sir. You are correct. However, the term "device activity" means a device was polled or used the Web API or Email Interface. So if you have a SPOT or InReach, just deactivate the device's message interface and you won't be charged the device activity fee since the device wasn't polled.
The next newsletter will cover these cost-savings measures in more detail.
I appreciate your support.

The interaction between Bubbler and Spotwalla on Android has been very hit and miss.
If it was a reliable service, I'd happily pay for it. Also I haven't been doing a lot of riding lately, so unfortunately a monthly subscription just can't be justified.
I'm assuming it's a monthly subscription by the newsletter US$5 (AU$6.89) lasting "2 and a half months" which would be about US$26 (AU$35.83) per year. [26 based on 5÷10×52]

I'm going to close my account.
If you work out how to do it let me know. I can't find that option.

It was a reliable service. My trips to Queenland, the Border Run 2019 and Tasmania were testament to that and I made a donation to the site. However, from last year it has been been very hit and miss and I've stopped crating trips. Greenalp has its limitations but rarely misses points.

I sent Jason an email yesterday and had my account purged.

I'm another happy user. I use the SPOT rather than a free phone app which means I'm up for the SPOT fee as well as the Spotwalla charge. That said, while ever I'm doing LDRs the benefit to my wife and friends warrants the cost. I would also note that Jason's site still faithfully holds all my LDRs going back to 2013, 87 rides in total.

Greenalp does that, and updates every 15 seconds.

Mine was purged too.

GreenAlp only does it while connected to mobile phone network (and stores points for when next in mobile phone tower range), Spot communicates via satellite even in areas of no mobile phone coverage.
