Title: final drive ST1100 can a standard final drive casing parts be swapped with ABS
Post by: Moonface on February 05, 2021, 08:42:09 AM
Dear all
I have committed the cardinal sin and mullered the final drive and flange on my ST1100 ABS 1999. have ordered flange and rubber inserts but having trouble finding an ABS final drive.

My question is, are the internal parts on non / ABS the same and can they be swapped if the only difference is the outer casing to hold the ABS sensor.

If so if I buy a reasonable non ABS can I used my casing and parts to swap and make my ST1100 whole again?
I await any response with interest and yes I am kicking myself and smothering myself with molybdenum grease.

Check the part numbers on the various years for the ABS and non ABS versions of the bike.   If the part numbers are the same, you should be OK.

What year / model is your 1100

This is for the 2002 police model  42630-MT8-305  FLANGE SET, FINAL DRIVEN  $270.05

                      1998 ST1100A      42630-MT8-305  FLANGE SET, FINAL DRIVEN  $270.05

Pretty good chance its the same..  Its a good idea to replace the cush rubbers at the same time
41241-MT3-003   RUBBER, RR. WHEEL DAMPER  $23.80 ea  4 required

Thank you for replies I have a 1999 ABS and have the rubbers and five pronged thingy on way I will try and work out via part numbers for the casings if interchangeable.

Looks like it's been a week or two since those splines have seen any grease...  :o

That looks bad in the final drive

Item 6 in the break down, probably none in country. Maybe some one has a good diff assembly from a bike they are wrecking.

If your splines are that bad the final drive needs a rebuild, this is a costly exercise, when i did mine parts cost around $1200 at trade prices, there is no other option than Honda, in short is the bike worth keeping in you opinion, or should you part it out?

:thumbs.  Two wheel recyclers at Lonsdale,
South Australia have a st1100 coming in.you may be able to get the parts you need from them .they seem to have reasonable prices to.Goodluck with your repairs.

Hi Moonface, I have a complete final drive assembly and rear wheel with disc non abs I’m after $500. For the lot if you are still after one.
