Title: OZSTOC member numbers?
Post by: Bikebear on May 11, 2012, 07:12:13 PM
I see some members have OZSTOC member numbers in their sigs. I'm not that concerned about what people's member number is but I'm interested to know where these numbers have come from.

Havent noticed it myself, but I know they arent issued by management. Maybe They worked out when they joined from the member listing.

Ulysses #32829
STOC #8239
OzSToc # ??

if you thinking of that sort of stuff, there is no "OzSTOC number" as such, the STOC number is actually from another group.

Fair enough. Saw the OzStoc# on a couple of sigs and was curious.  Lucky I'm a bear and not a cat.. :o

Perhaps the Ozstoc numbers you have seen are a carry over from the old Ozstoc site. I think I was #29, although I dont display it in my sig. Some of us have been around for a long while......

I don't even recall if I had an Ozsoc number. Mine are a US STOC number I need to get on a forum and a local FarRide number.

I was going to write something clever but erred on the side of sensibility ....
To some folk #'s and or titles give them a sense of belonging and stature within a group not neccessarily this group but a generalization

Personally my belief is not how long or what stature you have in a group but what I find more important
Is what you contribute to the betterment of that group

If any part of the forum moves to 'members only, like some are, even then a number would not really be needed, just a user name.

1111 coming up Brock, the 1234 etc etc.  I humbly suggest that posts in capacity of :whistle a moderator should be disregarded..

If you must know, you're number 59.  As ORSM says, seniority don't count.  It's your contributions that make you a hero, eh Brock?
And number of smitings.    :whistle
