Title: BMW goes full bagger/dresser with new R 18 B and Transcontinental

It is fair to say that the first editions of the R 18 have not been quite the sales success that BMW had hoped for.
You can’t really out-Harley, Harley-Davidson, but overnight BMW revealed the new up-spec touring versions of
the R 18 that should provide much wider appeal.

The same money will buy a 2021 Goldwing GL1800. No contest in my view.

Personally I've never been a fan of any BMW's, car or bike...

People bung on about "so called" superior German engineering but the couple of Beemers I've ridden had me wondering as the gearboxes felt like they belonged in a tractor.
A mate of mine also had one of the original K75 triples and I still remember the cloud of blue smoke that came out of it on startup every time it had been parked on it's side stand.

Oh, and another thing that I hated...from what I remember Beemers had separate indicator switches and yet another switch to cancel?
What's wrong with having one switch that does the lot like most motorcycle manufacturers use?  :||||

Anyways, if I had that sort of money to spend on a bike I reckon, like Mark said,  a Goldwing would do nicely...and that comes with superior Japanese engineering...  :grin :whistle

At 427 kegs I will too, way too heavy for me. Just the reason I didn`t go with an ST1300 and got the K1200GT.
My 1100 was (is) a great bike, but also just a little on the overweight side , (as am I).
All comes down to ones own choices/preferences and wants/needs.

In the market for one, I would certainly look at all options/brands, but this one with a dry clutch kills it for me.

 2c Stay calm :grin
