Title: Fuel pump replacement St1100
Post by: Robert Knight on August 27, 2021, 11:44:42 PM
I just bought 2 aeroflo 1.5-4psi electric fuel pumps,I read 4hrs the other night trying to get the best option and fitting instructions to leave the oem fuel pump behind and fit a remote electric one.
I could not find the Facet posi pump that many Americans are using and they were expensive anyway,so I found the psi specs they recommended and bought these, one for the 1990 ST1100 I am rebuilding and one as a spare, total cost with the barbs and one barb includes inbuilt fuel filter $138 Aus for the 2 in Melbourne believe it or not.
Hope I can fit the unit where the old vacuum regulator used to go,there was one guy who fitted the posipump who spoke about using and existing 90°moulded fitting off the incoming side of the pump to get the hoses lined up,wish I knew what he meant, and another took out the existing pump leaving only the shell and gauze filter to strain the fuel to the external pump,he then made an alumi ium disc up the right size to block off the barrel wher the pump had been and put the o-ring and nylon clip back as stock to hold it there.

Wondering how many Aussies have done similar conversions and give more detail on the hose sizes and specs to make it work and how best to route the wires and what fittings to wires to make a plug ang play easy swap out on the road if you had to?

This is the first time I have read about replacing the original pump with an aftermarket one.
While I can't give you any information on this I am interested in reading about how you go with it :popcorn

Please take photos and tell us about each steep, it'll help anyone else that want's to do the same thing :thumbs

If you get stuck at all, post photos along with questions and I'm sure there will be people that can offer suggestions on how to proceed  :thumbsup
