Hi all,
I need some help. I have replaced a faulty alternator, (1998 ST1100) all went fine, and I am up to installing the swing arm and drive shaft, but I cannot get the swing arm to fit into the right hand pivot mount while the shaft is connected. I have the Clymer and Honda workshop manuals which describe the job as fairly straight forward, but it's not working for me.
Is there some magic technique that I am missing, I have trawled posts here and there but no go.
There appears to be a mis-alignment of about 15mm between the drive shaft and the swing arm before the swing arm pivot on the RHS fits into it's recess.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks.
Chris.

There's no real trick to it, but it can be an annoying fiddle as you need to get the swing-arm in to position and then whilst holding it there turn the driveshaft and wiggle it to get the gears/splines to match and slide in to place. Easier with a 2nd pair of hands.

Thank you for your advice.
That's going to be a bitch, with the rubber boot on there is virtually no room especially with the frame right on top.
cheers
Chris.
