i have previously used a vista cruise on another bike ans a NEP on my present 1100, both easy to use once set up. Then the NEP fell off, pin fell out. local bike shop bagged both types saying the bar end types were better. From my experiance the vista and the NEP were easliy engaged with thumb matter where the throttle was, easily dissengaged. From reading the Throttlemeister and Kaoko types one has to roll off and then roll on again this time with the bar end thing gripped to engage the lock. Or does one need another hand?
Has any one had any experiance with the bar end type, comments please

I've just bought a Kaoko. It tells me that it's is a one handed operation. Roll the hand a bit and it locks.
The bar end thingy on the inside is playing hard to move at this stage. It shouldn't be this hard from what I've been told.
It's got to come out to fit a new part.
I've used a Vista. It worked. In the forums people also like the NEP as well.
As the saying goes, it's horses for courses.
I have a new NEP for sale, if you like. They don't work with heated grips.

The clip that holds the bar weights in was a bit difficult. After a while I looked in the workshop manual.
It came out a lot easier.
The throttle lock worked well when tested while on the main stand.
A ride tomorrow will determine how it works in the real world.

Hi Paul
I had the Throttlemeister on my previous Bike (ST1100, it was on the bike when I got it :grin )
The twist lock is fairly easy to move with the little finger engaging the lock about 90%, after which you can move your hand off the accelerator to twist the remainder locking it in 100%. I did this as I found with the lesser lock (just using the little finger) would disengage after a few bumps or over time :cuss
One big advantage was that when you decelerate completely the lock will automatically disengage, and when locked on you can still make slight speed adjustments without completely disengaging the lock (it just makes the accelerator harder to move) :thumb

I have a Kaoko and if you set it up fairly tight before heading off, all you have to do is move the nut with your little pinky to tighten the lock at whatever speed you want. To turn off you just close the throttle as normal when stopping.
The Kaoko is available locally whereas Throttlemister has to be obtain from the US at a cost of $35.00 plus postage. The Kaoko is also cheaper.

thanks to those who replied. i have sifted through my scrap box and have enough bits of brass and ABS plastic to fashion something of vista/ NEP hybrid. Bit of a challenge here to DIY. question is how many stubbies to do the job.

I also have a Kaoko fitted to my 1300 and although the bar can be a bugger to remove from inside the hand grip when fitting, they're very easy to use and work very well.
I purchased mine from the states about 18 months ago because they were not available in AUS at the time and I'm surprised to learn that they're now available here. I also paid a heck of a lot more than $35 for my Kaoko. I still have my invoice and the cost was $159 + $12 postage & handling. I checked on all available suppliers at the time and that was the best price I could get. Either they've come down a hell of a lot in price or you've got a Kaoko copy. I'd be very interested to learn where you got it from..........????

I have just put on a Brakeaway Cruise control ( throttle lock ) and so far I'm impressed with the ease you can use it. The most telling point about it is the front brake release for it. Would like to hear if any1 else has any experience with it ? Got it shipped from the states for $260. So far I think it was worth it.
