Left home at 05:20 as usual, across Wanneroo rd and eventually on to Neaves rd where it all went south. Apart from being dark, there was a light fog. Not too bad, could still see sort of and make a good speed.
Ten minutes later, fog was very thick and it was darker than the guts of a black hole, no light in and no light out. I swear the photons from the headlight were disappearing into the event horizon. I soon came across some slow traffic, about 20 vehicles doing 40KPH. If there is anything worse than pitch black fog, its pitch black fog filled with bright red taillights. Thank goodness fot the FOG[TECH] visor wipes Peter sent me to try, or I wouldnt have been able to see a thing except a speckled red blur.
Eventualy engaged touch mode and passed all the traffic, the hold up being a large caravan travelling behind a 4x4 (I think) moving slower than a blind snail. Once in front of the traffic, the red went away, but the black hole was back. Eventually made it to work using Braille riding techniques ( riding by touch :- if you don't touch anything, you must still be on the road). At least the sun will be up for the ride home.

Don't you hate it when some of that Eastern States weather sneaks over the border? :'( :whistle
:grin :blk13 :grin

You and the bike are both in one piece so you must have been doing something right and that's all that matters.

Hey- don't think we're all like Victoria and Tasmania!! Some of us don't even have frost, let alone fog. :thumbs

The fog did not lift until mid morning. The traffic thought the fog was still around at knock off time they were still going slow. Double demerit points for long weekends. :law

I don't get long weekends anymore (foundation day in WA on Monday?) so let me know when they come up....
Originally coming from Victoria, we used to get pea soup fog all times of the year. I haven't had one as bad ever since I went a bit more north.

Hey Brock...............it's bad enough driving a cage in the fog but riding is another thing altogether. :crazy
I recall when I was a teenager growing up in Melbourne we used to have very severe fogs in winter. I remember a few times after leaving my girlfriends home in the early hours of the morning having to drive with my head out of the window so I could see the centre line on the road next to the vehicle. Visability was almost zero..........I've driven millions of miles in my driving life, and in every state in OZ, but I've never experienced such severe fog as in the outer suberbs of Melbourne. We get a few here in Tassie of course, particularly in the low areas, on country roads................I occasionally drive the Ambulance through these fogs and it's a guessing game as to what kind of wildlife is about to appear in front of you. >:() But there is nooooooooo way I'd ride the bike here after dark :-(((......fog or not!!
