Title: G'day
Post by: Assassin on June 01, 2012, 04:02:49 PM
Hey ST Owners... just wanted to say G'day... :) I've just moved up from Victoria to Queensland (please don't ask why), but just hoping to blow a few cobwebs that have built up in my exhaust over the last couple of years... Hope to see some of you on a ride soon...

Cheers, Sass

Hi Sass, Welcome to "sunny" Queensland, (it's raining at this moment!!!). Glad to see you escaped from Victoria!, bet there are many others who would like to make the break for freedom!

Welcome to the nut house called OzSTOC, a great bunch of guys (and gals) even if they are all strange (me included), the only thing common to all is the love of the ST.

Have fun here, I know I do, and you mist come on the next run, whenever that is.

Cheers

Welcome to the zoo Sass,

They'll try to get you to buy an OzSTOC shirt. Don't, they're crap. Cheap material, three arms and you'll look like something out of the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. They'll also try to get you in a photo........... don't fall for it, they'll steal your soul, honestly (they eat babies in Queensland, it must be true cause I read it somewhere).

Otherwise they're not bad.

Welcome Sass. Where in Qld did you settle? And what ST do you have? If you say a white ex police bike, I'm going to be suspicious. They are taking over. In fact, I think a new poll would indicate the 1100's may have the numbers over the superior 1300. AND, that the 1100P's may out number the civilian 1100's.
Anyways.... I'm getting off the track.
Hope to see you on our next ride Sass.
Cheers.
Skip.

Thanks for the warm welcome Guys, I will certainly look forward to meeting a few of you in the near future. And apologies to the Victorians here, it's a beautiful state, but I just couldn't do another winter down there.... yes it's raining here, but at least it's warmer :)

All the best,

Hi sass from Saaz!  They do carry on a bit these WA and Qld types but after a while you get used to it. I an from Victoria originally, so which part were you from?  And which part of Qld are you going? (there are some intra-state issues going on within Qld too!)

Ex-police bikes rule, in fact we are starting to think about a breakaway group regardless of which state you are in....

Hi Saaz, yep, from West Gippy, a small town called Drouin, I'm sure you would have heard of it.... and moving to Logan Village near Brisbane. I've bought a place out there, but only settles next week, so staying with my sister in the mean time in Shailer Park.

My 2002 (red) ST1300 is a ridgydidge, about 30,000 clicks, and not one of the ex-police ones, although I didn't know that the police had 1300's.

Cheers, Sass

G'day sass - great to have you aboard. There's always little and longer rides going on amongst the Queenslander OzSTOCers, so make sure you check here regularly to join in a few - a great time is guaranteed!

If you maintain your ST yourself, there is the workshop thread that has heaps of info, and reports from Members who may have done the same thing and posted pics of their experience to help out too.

We also have a great connection with some honest and reliable vendors and supplier - many of whom are OzSTOC Members themselves and give great service and prices - just look around or ask.

Anyways - thanks for the intro sass and see ya round.

Cheers, Diesel

G'day Diesel,

Yep, I do my own maintenance. I have the ST1300.pdf full workshop manual with all the info I need. I also do my own valve clearances and and have a good range of shims, as well as a good set of balancing gauges etc. My bike runs very well (as they should), and very smooth. I've had a lot of experience with bike engines in the past, mainly Suzuki and Kawasaki, but have worked on a whole range of bikes. Several years ago I owned a Suzuki dealership in Western Australia (sold back in '96), but that was in another life time...

Cheers,
Sass
