Anyone found someone who can repair the ECU to either fix or block the dreaded code 26 and its effects?

I don't know if the ECU can be repaired however you might be able to try a second-hand one.
Steve (SDR) may have an ECU, he has a LOT of parts from ST1300's he is wrecking :runyay (As well as some other bikes)

are you sure it's the ECU? Make sure everything else is absolutely mickey duck before throwing hard earnt at an ECU.
See if you can borrow one and test first......just sayin'
I wish I'd grabbed a dollar from each person that went for the ECU ....... ;-*

The knock sensor’s location and proximity to exhaust headers make them prone to heat damage, check condition of connector, continuity to ground and ecm. Maybe try replacing the knock sensor first. Best luck.

You could try Vectriq if your ecm is at fault.

Took her for a run yesterday. As soon as the FI light kicked in over 4K it started running very rich. Didn’t help that the rear brake is still dragging a bit. I believe I have a blocked rubber hose under the tank. Bleeding the rear was difficult as the nipple was loose but fluid was hard to push through. Then it became free again. For a while I couldn’t get fluid to flow through the hose at all. I have rebuilt the SMC which when I pulled it to bit was like new inside. The brake doesn’t drag a lot but just enough heat the disc up a bit. Rear wheel does not spin freely on the centrestand. You can feel the drag. I have rebuilt the rear caliper as well. The bike had sat for 9 years prior to me getting it back on the road. 🤷♂️

I replaced the cables going to the Knock sensors to no effect, then changed the ECU. The F1 problem went away for about 6 months, then came back on my first leg of my 'round OZ trip. I think I should probably have changed the knock sensors as well, but I havent seen any reports of anyone actually solving the problem for good.
I believe the ECU's are covered in a potting compound, so cant really be repaired. I was going to have a look at fixing my old one, but lent it to someone in this group and they never returned it.

I think the problem lies in the wiring from the knock sensor to the ECU. Apparently its a shielded wire and the insulation may break down due to heat..
I could be wrong tho, it happens occasionally..

Does anyone know the position on the ecu connector where the RH knock sensor feeds to?
Knock sensors wiring should be on the grey plug on the ecu, one is black and the other is red/green. Check the colour of the wire at the knock sensor , also check the ground wire .

I probably have pins to suit the connector ( not sure as I dont have the 1300), and the proper tools to crimp it.

Anyone got an ECU for sale to suit my 2004. I’m going to recheck the wiring but putting it out there just in case. Thanks
