Post by: Streak on June 02, 2012, 09:34:56 AM
Hello All!

We will make this a Lunchtime meet up about 12.30pm

I (Streak/Graham) Will Be leaving Toowoomba at 9.15am from the BP on North & Ruthven Street
(I will be doing a loop up through Cooyar, Yarraman, Toogoolawah, aiming for Esk about 12.00pm approx http://goo.gl/maps/D6Nc (http://goo.gl/maps/D6Nc))

TBA on Leaving Brisbane times (suggested that you could meet myself and whoever is with me at the turn-off from the D'Aguillar Highway onto Brisbane Valley Highway and we all come into Esk together from there)

This is a Great chance to meet any new faces that have joined and to support Esk Bakery who supported our National Rally this year. I know from personal experience (diesel & IanB will back me up) their food is very nice and so is the coffee!

Myself, Laurie Green and Dick Prisgrove (Greencan) and our respective wives are riding to Kingaroy that day and will be riding through Esk on the day. Our current plans put us in Esk a few hours ahead of when everyone else plans on getting there. We'll see if we can work things so that we can meet up with the rest of the group on the day.  :thumbs

Hi Skip - it'll be great to see you out there.

The Ozstoc Team decided after the fantastically generous support showed by all OzSTOC Members in getting this website up and running initially, that we would basically hand the hat around once a year during August (being the anniversary of this website's coming online) for the ongoing costs of the website, and the running of this club.

We believe that there are sufficient members, that if those who were willing threw in $10-$20 - or what they could afford, once a year - then OzSTOC would be a great ongoing concern with not only all costs met, but a few extra dollars in the kit for banners, bbqs, printing of cards, and certain OzSTOC outings and services subsidised throughout the year.

This is NOT compulsory - NOR is it a Membership fee - just a token donation from you if you feel you got your ten or twenty bucks worth out of this site over the year. We will put up a post about it in August.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Diesel

:thumb Thanks for the explanation Diesel. Just made a little purchase from the shop and thought I would tip in a bit to help out with ongoing costs.
Streak also re-posted the OzSTOC account details. Thanks to all who make this a great and informative site.

But be warned, nicknames have been awarded to some very (gently worded) unique actions at OzSTOC events, just ask:

Skidmark
Tipsy

Hey Harie.
I'll be at the northbound BP just after 10.00am. If you and whoever else, want to pull in there, I'll be ready to leave there by 10.15. We will be at the Brisbane Valley H'way turn-off a bit before 11.30 to meet up with Streak and the other 'mountain men'.

Streak. You still planning to come in the B.V. H'way from Yarraman? We'll meet you there by 11.30 if you are.
Cheers.

Thanx for the reply "Streak'
I'll change the default mobile

say meet about 9:00 to 9:15, at Carseldine, then a 30 ?? minute run up to the BP and Skip
then another cup of coffee and a wee break
luckily for everyone, there is no stopping at the Kilcoy turn off

are we / anyone, going around the dam to arrive at Esk ??

The Basic's at the moment are:

Meeting Places:

Toowoomba: Meeting at the North/Ruthven ST Leaving time is 9.15am (Streak)

Brisbane North Side: BP North, Burpengary, Queensland Leaving time 10.15am Approximately (Biggles & Skip)
Caltex Carseldine around 9-915amish (shiney & HarieG)

Brisbane South Side: TBA

The basic plan for everyone not going straight to Esk, is that we will all meet at the turn off from the D'Aguilar Highway onto the Brisbane Valley Highway.

I dont know of anyone doing the Esk/Kilcoy Road around the dam at the moment, but Harie is interested.

Returning Via Mount Glorious side, people are still making up minds minds, Biggles is the only one so far considering going that way.

Attending List at the moment the Queensland ESK RTE for lunch:

HarieG & GoldieST
Diesel & (hopefully Mrs Diesel)
Streak
Skip
Dick  (Greencan)
Laurie
Barry & Marissa
SToz
Biggles (still under negotiation)
Griffo
Whizz & plus a Mate
Maverick75 & Partner
RustyEB
RoyST1100 & Nisi
Shiney & Carrol

If you have any questions, or want to be added to the list let me know and i will do so,
remember anyone wanting to come needs to read this post so keep it constructive please  :thumb

"....are we / anyone, going around the dam to arrive at Esk ??"  Harie.
If we are going to meet up with the Mountain Men, we need to go past the dam Harie and come thru Toogoolawah into Esk. Meeting up at the intersection of the Brisbane Valley H'way near Harlin. Haven't decided how I will come home but I won't get lost from Esk.  I'll probably go home around the dam Harie.
Cheers.
Skip.

Going home around the dam is my second option.  I don't commit to Mt Glorious in case it's in cloud.  It's hard work when it's wet up there, because of all the leaf litter, especially on the western side.  Apart from being blinking cold in winter rain (and youse Taswegians can butt out now, before you start  :p).  The dam run to Kilcoy is just as much fun, but is headed away from home for a lot of the time.

I doubt I'll be "doing coffee" at Burpengary.  I'll have refuelled at Aspley and be ready to roll at 10:15.

SO
are any southern and eastern riders who want  to meet up at Caltex Carseldine, and then ride on to BP and Kilcoy turn off
come on BGL's, and Shiney, any more

Mate- I'm going direct to the BP at Burpengary.  Don't need to stop at every Servo on the way.    :)

Harie,

If we are the only ones meeting at the Caltex we could just meet on Leitchs Road near your place.
From there it's straight to the HWY and up to the BP North to meet up with the others.

What do you think??

The pain  in the knee was excruciation yesterday which forced me to the doc and he gave me a cortisone injection with a touch of a local anaesthetic and boy-o-boy what a difference this morning.
I do not know how long it will last but will get it again each time it is needed.... So now I might be able to get in some exercise to help the weight loss..

Now whose place can I get to in order to go with the South side group and what time should I be there.
Vicky Point to Alex Hills is only hop skip and a short ride.

I am on cloud nine again WHOOOOOOPPPPEEEEEEEE

Just to get everyone jealous I did the Esk Bakery run today as I needed to go up to Watts Bridge to fix a mates aeroplane. Absolutely top-notch afternoon, 21 degrees, clear blue sky and sunshine...and the dam looks GOOD with some actual water in it!

Stopped off at the Fernvale bakery on the way home for a pie and coke, met a couple on Ducati's and another couple on a BMW and a big VT cruiser, lots of bikes on the roads. As the lady with the Duc said, "Isn't it nice when you can do this on a weekday as well as the weekend!" Must agree with the lady, 'cause she's quite right!!! ...and she looked real good in leathers!!   :whistle

My myopic company management have decided to pay me a years salary to not work there anymore, so as of 29th June (i.e. the end of next week!) I can do this when ever I want!! :grin

Skip, to be absolutely truthful I have no mixed feelings whatever. I have spent 11.5 years working for a company whose management think that a workable manager/worker level is 3 managers for 7 workers, which is the average in our head-office right now, whose solution for falling sales is to make workers redundant whilst keeping senior managers and sales people, but who haven't cottoned on to the fact that if they actually get any of the jobs they are tendering for they won't have anyone who can actually execute them.

No, mate I am really glad that I am not going to be associated with this sinking ship, good riddance to them! Me and my guys (who are also being made redundant) have already been offered a design/development/project management job in China for 2-3 years which will make us more money that we could ever earn here, and we have also been offered a partnership with a big software company to develop turn-key solutions for company's here in Aus. So we have more choices that I can shake a stick at...and I am over the moon that my old company are paying me enough for me to take the time to make my mind up.

Mate, I couldn't be happier!!!  :thumbsup :thumbs :thumbsup :thumbs

Cheers

Well, what a fantastic turn out, weather good, not too hot, not too sunny...but a lot of bikes on the roads, groups going everywhere.

Here are some unofficial photos of the mob, I hesitate to call us a group as there were SO MANY OF US!!

Early arrivals. Followed by;

Then we got organised and parked all the STs (both 1100's and 1300"'s) in a line on one side of the road

and a slightly different viewpoint

Counting front wheels gives us a total of 21 St's lined up alongside each other...so many that the local plod had to come and complain that we were blocking up her village!! Note the crutches next to Tipsy's machine, he arrived with them strapped across his back!!!

These are only unofficial pics, the official ones to come later, when Streak and Diesel get home!

A great ride

Cheers all

I'd have to agree with your sentiments, Shiney.  I was just thinking what a great bunch of people we have in the STOC.  There's just something about that bike that attracts the right sort of people to enjoy an outing with.  I suppose the other "owner groups" find a similar thing- it seems to work for the Harley mob anyway, from the specimens I passed on the road today, with their skull face cloths etc.   :grin

I hope Col, the Bakery owner is there next time so we can thank him personally.  He doesn't have to give us discounted meals to be a great bloke.  (but it was nice of him)

Thanks to all you great people for rolling up at another fine OzSTOC RTE.

A couple of 'honourable mentions' must go to Tipsy for making a Titanic effort to join us today, AND for getting our National OzSTOC Sponsor T-Shirt pic blown up and framed for presentation to the Esk Bakery - thanks mate - on BOTH counts.
- To Royce and Denise who only got home yesterday from an epic 3,000km tour through NSW, to join us today - well done.
- To ORSM and his fabulous ST1800 - nice metal mate - as always - good to see you.
- To the Greencans - great to have you as guests with us today - sorry for the poor showing - there's normally a lot more people! Have a safe and great trip back south.
- To the many new faces and first timers - thanks for coming out and we all hope you had a bonza time - hope to see you guys regularly now that you know the drill - RIDE - HAVE FUN & LUNCH - LAUGH ALOT - RIDE - easy recipe!
- To the pillions - thanks very much for enjoying the day with us - you helps make it that much more special.
- To the regulars - as usual - great to see you all again and thanks for coming out today.
- To the Esk Bakery - thanks for your hospitality and support - and thanks especially for the special lunch discount you treated us to - well done.
- and of course - to Streak, Brock and Saaz for helping to organise this weekend's National round of OzSTOC RTEs - well done gents and thanks.

Here is a link to the pics I took today - when the thumbnails open - click the first pic, and then click the right facing arrow to advance....

I have a problem with these photos. The camera seems to have added about 40kg to my normally slender frame. I suggest you have a professional look at it. The lens is obviously out of alignment  8).
