G'day,
I went for a spin out Samford way and on returning home and after parking I couldn't get out of 1st gear, it took ages to free up, anyone had similar??
Cheers Joe.
-
I can say, that it hasnt happened to me, and I have never heard of it happening before.
Is the bike changing the other gears OK?? Is the selector lever moving??
-
G'day, thanks for your reply, well once it comes out of 1st it will change up and down no worries, the selector lever is not moving, it's tight, looks like I will have to pull it down and check everything,
I think 2nd gear fork might be bent as it is difficult to get into sometimes, I guess the fork moves more than 2nd gear??
Cheers Joe.
-
Actually I'm thinking that perhaps a fork is badly worn and can come out of it's groove, possible??
-
I guess it possible, but I dont know how it could happen. My bike has 200,000Ks, and no shift problems.
If you take it apart, take pics so we can see what you find.

Mine was an EX Police bike, the cops would not have been gentle that's for sure.
Can you please point me toward a Gearbox pull down, or disassembly
cheers Joe.

I have a 1300 and had a similar problem it turned out the clutch leaver needed adjusting it wasn’t just quite releasing
Until I found it I would turn the engine off to get it into nuetral
My bike is very popular with the grandies and I think it may have been a victim of the fiddles
-
Mine is expolice as well. You will find the ST1100 Manual in the 1100 section..

Thanks for all your replies fellas, I will report back when I pull it down, I can still use it but just for a few months, I don't like such problems hanging over my head.
One last question, once the gearbox is out can I shift gears and see how it works, a big ask I know,
Cheers Joe
