Not to sure about posting links to sites run by dubious characters:

"The following year he (Shane Dowling - kangaroocourtofaustralia) was again jailed. Justice Helen Wilson, who described Dowling as “zealot, and one who is legally uninformed and factually deluded”, jailed him for 13 months for three acts of contempt, one of which was stating in a “loud and aggressive” manner in a packed courtroom that the presiding registrar was a “known bribe taker and paedophile ... ”."

Barilaro is a strange appointment I must admit, but I don't live in NSW and in the immortal words of Malcolm Blight, I don't give a rats toss bag.

That's what happens to those that spill the beans on corruption, Mark!   :whistle
David McBride is yet another example...

one of which was stating in a “loud and aggressive” manner in a packed courtroom that the presiding registrar was a “known bribe taker and paedophile ... ”."

Yet he hasn't been sued for defamation, kinda tells you something doesn't it?  :whistle

McBride leaked classified military documents to the ABC - I don't have a problem with the outcome (prosecution and gaoling). I might add, his second mistake was having dealings with the ABC.

Don't you find it somehow wrong though that someone exposing war crimes gets jailed while the actual perpetrators remain free?  :think1

Shane Dowling reports on political corruption, judicial corruption and associated police corruption. etc etc and he's been jailed briefly for doing so...does that actually make him a dubious character as you've suggested?

Anyhow, getting back on topic, Barilaro has been the subject of much "alleged" dodginess over the years so why anyone would appoint him as a director is just asking for trouble. I guess time will tell...

I think the correct terminology is "alleged war crimes". As far as I'm aware, no one has been found guilty, beyond reasonable doubt, of committing war crimes.
I suspect Rusty that we are not going to agree on this (leaking classified military documents) so there's not much point continuing the discussion. I suspect you'd also be horrified that it's my view Assange should have been prosecuted for what he did (I'd leave it up to the jury/Judge to determine guilt or otherwise) and hiding behind a bogus suggestion he was being a journalist is a nonsense joke. I do agree that the whole sorry exercise went on for too long.
WRT Barilaro, I do agree with your last comment, it's a bit like the US elections back when it was between Trump and Biden - surely there are other more worthy candidates to pick from?
