Have your say please on Polo shirt Vs Tshirt for your National Rally shirt for 2025.
**Please understand that the poll results won’t dictate the final outcome of the shirt purchased, put simply it will allow those considering the options some insight to make an informed choice to discuss.
For me as personal opinion only….
If I’m using the shirt day to day around the house or potentially under a motorcyle jacket I prefer cotton, if I’m wearing a shirt out I prefer a polo with a collar.
The Sublimations look great and a little dressier with lots of design potential and don’t really fade, but retain odour and make you perhaps not as fire retardant as you might like :Stirpot
The cotton are a nicer thing on most ppls skin types, they are screen printed onto a plain colour, they do stretch and fade but a nicer cooler under garment that wicks moisture better than synthetic’s.
Ok have at it :thumb

Why not the option of both? I'd take one of each. How I wear each is very similar to you. Going out I like the polo shirts. This year's lacked a pocket though. The pocket was good for reading glasses. T-shirts I wear at less formal things. Around the house... I have a lot of grotty shirts that do that job.

If we look at the last NatRally in Mansfield, polo shirts won out...
As for material, I'd much rather a polyester & cotton blend.
Polyester on its own makes for a smelly shirt, cotton usually shrinks and needs ironing unless you're happy wearing a wrinkled shirt.
Polyester/cotton shirts generally don't shrink, and you can wear them pretty much straight off the clothesline.
Oh, and I agree with Bodø, a pocket is a must, otherwise I'll never wear it...
That's my 2 bobs worth... :beer

We'd vote for T Shirts.

Sublimation - yeah they look cool, but their subtlety is lost on many non-OzSTOC members, I've been asked if I've joined a lawn bowls club.
Odour - not a problem for me, not sure if it's a concern for the company I keep though. And this is not the place for smart-alecky comments on that matter.
Have many, many cotton (probably a blend) T-shirts, no problems with shrinkage, and they don't need ironing (washing machine to clothesline to drawer to me).
Pocket - yes handy, but (I think it was the Mudgee polo), without some reinforcing, the pocket went outta shape and looked very sloppy and untidy - so bad, it went to the OpShop.
T-shirts for me - got many years wear outta the orange Ballarat, maroon (previous Toowoomba), navy (Mannum) and beige / nude (Mudgee) and T's. The orange and maroon have both gone to meet their maker; navy and beige get regular use

Mudgee rally had t shirt not polo
-
Mudgee had t shirt not polo so try again

My preference is for a cotton shirt (not T) with collar (to put up if the back of my neck is getting sunburnt) AND pocket (somewhere to put those pesky but necessary reading glasses). I haven't voted because my preference isn't an option.

Hopefully the poll can be updated to offer a polyester/cotton (& pocket) option as well... :thumb

I've had my cataracts replaced with great prescription lens inserts, so I don't insist on pockets in shirts any more (used to drive Mrs B mad searching for the shirt colours and types I like that had pockets). (P.S.- she buys all my clothes- don't ask.) I like collars. Us fashion-plates are like that! :p
-
I've had my cataracts done too but fortunately I now have multifocal lens in my glasses and being the lazy sod that I am, I just leave my glasses on pretty much all the time even though I don't actually need them for driving/riding.
My shirt pockets get used for carrying my mobile phone...
So much better (and more comfortable) than sticking it in ya back pocket! :thumbs
-
Also had my cataracts done. I went from wearing glasses all the time to now just needing them to read - hence pocket required.

For me:-
Primary concern is cotton so cotton tee shirt will get my vote.
Secondary is Polo shirt
Third is pocket, as I do a lot of public transport travelling and it is handy to keep my seniors travel card in when on the move (smartcard, go card, opal card and metrocard. Seniors myki card not available for interstate seniors :-[) .
Smart phone too heavy for tee shirt/polo shirt pockets, shorts and jeans are all cargo pants (including motor bike pants so phone and wallet live in the side pockets.

If there is a strong vote either way I would like to think it will have a major influence on what we pay for.

We'd vote for T Shirts.
Which raises the question ... should those buying two shirts, get two votes?

I've bought two shirts and said I'd be happy with one of each. :crackup

Does not make a lick of difference to me. I could care less either way.
Hope this helps :spank
-
I prefer polo shirts with a pocket and cotton only as polyester is absorbed into the skin, but I take what is offered in this case
-
I'd only wear a polo at the Rally, but I regularly wear the T Shirts

I also only wear the Polo Shirt at the rally but regularly wear my all cotton polo shirts.

Cotton is my preference.
And with Excema, less likely to cause a breakout.
