I've decided to put on my big boy pants and finally learn how to do an oil change on the ST.
So
I need to know what equipment I need?
Where and what filter to get?
What type of oil to get?
I've been watching this video for instructions

Or you can ride here, and I'll show you how to do it.

In the meantime, you'll need:
- A 17mm ring spanner or socket - I'll have to lay on my back in the garage to check the size, and then post an update, hopefully someone will be along soon to save me the effort.
- An oil filter wrench or tool (for a motorcycle filter). I've tried some different types, found the one similar to that in the pic the best - by far.
- An oil tray.
- Rubber gloves.
- Plenty of rags to mop up the spillage - I've always managed some.

Oil & filter type? Whatever I suggest, someone will suggest something else. There's plenty of threads to make it already confusing, I won't add to that.

All info can be found in the 1300 Oil change section..

Lol I need to get all the gear first. Where do you get the filter from? Supercheap of something?
-
Supercheap carry the Ryco Z436 filter, and the SCA equivalent (a bit cheaper, probably the same manufacturer).

I buy them on eBay...
I like the K&N filter as they have a nut on the end making it easy to undo.

If you don't want a chrome one, you can get the same thing in black which is usually slightly cheaper.
As far as oil goes, I use Penrite MC-4 10W-40 Synthetic Oil: https://tinyurl.com/2e37y7r2
Good luck with it all! :thumb
