I was bored this afternoon so I decided to swap out my Delkevic mufflers for a set of Staintune ones that I had hanging around in the Garage.
Nothing wrong with the Delkevics but the other ST1300 I had a few years back had the Staintunes fitted when I bought it and I just thought
they sounded a touch better so before I sold the bike I swapped them out with some original mufflers. :thumbs
Of course I then had to go for a bit of a ride just to make sure everything was all good... :beer

In my humble opinion, the glorious look of the OEM mufffers can't be beaten, because they integrate so nicely into the sleek lines of the bike.

They may look the part but for me, they are too quiet!
I don't like loud pipes but I do like a bit of a "note" which I find the Delkevics and Staintunes deliver... :grin
I do have some OEM mufflers in mint condition if I ever want to go back to stealth mode... :rofl

Do you have the "insert" fitted? When I bought Ruby4 back in September she came with Staintunes fitted and I hated the noise and replaced them with the supplied originals and sold the Staintunes. The buyer asked about the inserts and so I checked with the seller and he had forgotten about them on a shelf in his shed, and sent them to pass on to the pipes buyer.
<End of saga.>

G'day Bill...
When I bought my previous ST they didn't and I thought it was a bit noisy but luckily for me the previous owner had the "inserts" in his garage along with a mint pair of OEM mufflers.
With the inserts fitted I find the sound level just right... :runyay

I had Staintune exhaust on my 2001 :blk13
Standard was a bit quiet and insert out were to loud so I purchased a medium directly from Staintune
Sounded perfect
My mate that purchased :blk13 from me still have it like that
Buy the way I have a near new set of original exhaust which I could post or bring to the National Rally

No idea what "inserts" I have but I guess it doesn't matter as I'm happy with the ones fitted. :beer
Just as an aside, Staintune are now located in Tasmania but so far they aren't making the variety of mufflers like they previously did...
I contacted them early last year and at the time they said they are in the process of getting the 400mm round barrels back into production.
This will be followed by the oval style mufflers (which suit the ST) but so far no word as to when they will be available...

I had Delkevics in my ST1300 (Version 1), got 'em off a member in Armidale NSW, picked 'em up on my long road to the 2023 NatRally at Mudgee, put 'em on the bike, a lovely, deep, throaty, very loud roar when the throttle was used hard, a bit too noisey for the pillion's liking, even under gentle throttle.
Took 'em off to get the VIV certificate in March 2024 (general consensus that it would be easier to get the VIV with the bike back in originals specs), they're now in Brisbane with Cerebral Knievel, 'spose he has on a bike.
No idea what inserts were in 'em.

I currently have Delkevics on the 1100 and Staintunes on the 1300. I keep both their inserts/bungs in because I prefer a burble to loud noise, but having said that they're not obnoxiously loud without them.

Not sure if it has anything to do with the Staintunes or not but I got amazing fuel economy to and from our last RTE.
It's sitting on 5.4l/100k! Considering we were 2up I was most surprised as I've never ever got close to those sorts of figures even when riding solo! :think1
