Gippsland line marking trial for motorcycle safety
Two Gippsland roads have been chosen for a line marking trial to improve motorcycle safety.
Korumburra–Warragul Road and Boolarra–Mirboo North Road will have line markings added at four bends to help motorcyclists adopt safer cornering lines
and maintain better lane discipline through the bend.
Perceptual Countermeasures (PCM) line marking can subconsciously alter road users’ perception of the road environment and lower their speeds.
The trial is part of a national trial being led by the Centre for Automotive Safety Research and funded through the Australian Government’s National Road
Safety Action Grants Program.
The Gippsland trial is being delivered as part of ongoing motorcycle safety initiatives supported by the Motorcycle Safety Levy.
The aim of the trial is to identify effective, evidence-based treatments that can be applied more broadly across the Victorian road network.

FMD!
Interesting to some, but not me. These have been evaluated in other countries resulting in enough evidence leading to them being determined effective. Not sure what another evaluation is expected to achieve. The motorcycle levy being used productively, NOT!
I'd rather some potholes fixed.

I'd rather some potholes fixed.
And not by using Motorcycle Safety Levy monies :grin...

Would not mind if they used the levy, just fix the pot holes.

We've had these for quite a while on parts of Mt Mee here in Queensland. I haven't heard of any assessments of their effectiveness. I feel they do impinge on my choice of line, maybe subconsciously.
