Title: Engine Oil
Post by: West Aussie Glen on March 12, 2026, 09:27:03 PM
I had always used Honda engine oil and filters as much as anything to support my local Honda dealer who used to look after me and was 10 minutes from home.
Honda Australia, as per the idiots they can be, withdrew the dealership and now my local dealer is 30 minutes away. I will now be using this oil, currently on special. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/penrite-penrite-mc-4st-semi-synthetic-motorcycle-oil-10w-40-4-litre/591919.html?cgid=SCA010704#vid=geIs5drAO70D7H8wwmX30g%3D%3D&start=2 (https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/penrite-penrite-mc-4st-semi-synthetic-motorcycle-oil-10w-40-4-litre/591919.html?cgid=SCA010704#vid=geIs5drAO70D7H8wwmX30g%3D%3D&start=2)

I always used Penrite Diesel oil, 10 or 15W40 (extra 10) its cheaper than the bike specific oil. The HPR15 oil meets or exceeds the specs detailed in the manual.

Oil filter is the Repco ROF15..

Have used penrite full synth 10w-40 for years, it is rated for bikes.  170,000km (100,000km from me) on old gsxf750 (sold), and now 120,000km (over 100,000km from me) on the ST13. Regularly goes 40-50% off on sale.
Doesn't use any oil between changes, and do changes by the book (km). Also use repco oil filter (search forum for correct one).

I'm with Brock on the Penrite Diesel oil. Use it in the old Barra motor as well, and the wife's Rav4.
