Title: Batteries

The Motobatt AGM battery in my 1100 died yesterday and I will need to buy a new one.   :'( Has anybody got any opinions (good or bad) about the AGM/gell batteries, are they worth the extra money over the wet cell, do they last, are they any good. I am surprised that it died so quickly. Worked fine on Friday, would hardly light the dash Saturday morning, no warning like a wet cell. I have had to borrow the wet battery from the Virago to get going,  :-[ so I need one soon. Any ideas?

I fitted a Dekka ETX14 5 years ago and it is still going as strong as ever. It cost $195 at the time from a local battery place. The Yuasa was about $50 more from memory.  AGMs should perform better in the longer run, but they can be prone to sudden failure as well.  I haven't looked lately to see what privce you can get a Dekka for.

LITHIUM m/c batteries now!  What next?  Fusion power?

The Dry Fit batteries on that website would be the closest to what the Dekka is, as it pretty well fully sealed from the factory. The next step down would  be roughly the same as the normal Yuasa, which needs acid to be added, but Yuasa does a fully sealed higher performance battery these days as well.

Battery problem solved. Ebay had the Motobatt for $99.00 + postage, bought from local dealer for $92.60. Fitted and going.  :)
