Title: GPS & iPhone RAM Installation
Post by: Streak on July 21, 2012, 01:09:39 PM
Well it is all up and running, photos are below, so can run and charge my GPS, and Both Teela's and my iPhones:

this is what i call the budget model as due to budget constraints is whati could afford.

GPS: Navman F15 $50

Ram Mounts, 3 of arms, 3 plates 1 smaller ball plate for the GPS ball plates $99

2 iphone USB Cables & Plugs: $10

1 double 12V Plug $5

Dash Shelf (Made by Tipsy) $20

1 Black 2 Pack Spray Pack $12.50

Total: $196.50

This is not the Be all and and end all of a setup, but it is certainly functional, and will do until i can step out and buy some more top of the line gear!

This is the Car GPS mount from the Navman that i adapted a Ram Mount Ball to fit:

This is the Finished product, everything is all powered up and working perfectly in the shed i am looking forward to taking it out for a proper run.

Very nice. That center spot for the GPS is the go. I bet yah after a few Kays you will tilt the Ram Mount Arm all the way towards you. near flat  and tilt the GPS back towards the front on an angle

I like how you put everything not too far off you eyeline. I've got a ram ball and power socket that mount just below the keys coming snail mail from motorcycle larry in the states. I can tell you that you saved yourself some bucks. Well done!!

i have discovered my centre  ram arm is a touch to long, Paul from Ram Mount Australia was very helpful and found me the right length arm, so it all should be setup and good to go for Dugandan run.

Thanks for all the good words from everyone, it was pretty cool seeing it all come together!

I heard the Biggles has got hold of a LOCKABLE RAM MOUNT so that he can leave his uhf on the bike and it cannot be 'lifted' without the key to unlock the mount.

Lockable Ram Mount.... hmmmmmmm!         :think1

It's almost certainly 4mm Aluminium sheet, that's what he wanted to use for mine bu we ahd to go to 5mm 'cause the supplier had no 4mm left.
